you can do that now, you just have to destroy and remake and rename your vendor

Seriously I agree, we should be able to rename and reformat what vendors say without having to completely empty and destroy them.

I like that renaming would be easy for the devs to implement and then vendor could just be reregestered, much simpler than my idea.

I've seen some posts about empty vendors and having them removed from the planetary map or item counts shown for a vendor.

Each has problems though they would help a bit.

What i would really like is the ability to type a short description for specials.

So if people click on my vendor name on the map it says todays special 1/06/04 fishak 40k.

Charge extra and have it last one day. Ithink this would be a great feature that would help me and my customers.

Ok, this has been driving me crazy for a long time and I hope someone here can clear this up. I have read hundreds of threads with conflicting information. I keep reading that your registered vendors are only visable on the planetary map when they are loaded into the world. What the heck does that mean? Does this mean that you or somebody else must actually be in the room with the vendors for them to be visable on the map? Does my increased vendor fees for being listed on the map apply even though they are not visable? Help me Obe Wan Kenobi!

And what is up with that smell?

Thanks a lot, I have not seen that thread. So from what I have read there I am assuming that if I log on in the morning and load my vendors by simply walking into my shop that they will be registered on the planetary map all day long until a server reset. Is this assumption correct?

That is correct. It's not great, but it is better than the way it used to be, which was that you had to visit each vendor and manually reregister them via the radial menu ever day after server reset. Now at least, you only need enter the building they are in. You or someone else. If you have multiple locations, this is not so good, but if all your vendors are in one building or on one planet, not so bad.

Higher traffic vendors, or ones that are "force-loaded" (by vendor owner logging in to visit and map-set them early and daily) will be the first ones on the map each day. Low traffic areas will load as they get visited. If at all.

Think of it as Merchant PvP.

This is great news. I guess if they did it any other way there would be so many vendors listed on the planetary map that it would be difficult to find anything! Thanks a lot for responding. I appreciate your input and I'm sure a lot of people will benefit from this.

No, it's not really an issue with quantity. You've spent the skill points and it's your right to be listed.

The problem is with the way objects load into the world.

Back in the early days of the game, everything loaded into the world after a server reset.

This meant that the servers took longer to bring online and it could be up to an hour before houses would appear.

You could walk (there was nothing to ride) from Coronet to Bela Vistal right after the server came up and if you were lucky you would start to see the occasional house before you got there. It also meant that if you timed it just right you could put down a new structure where one already existed but hadn't yet loaded.

By making the change so that items load on demand, the servers come up faster and all the structures show up. You just have to wait a few seconds after you walk into a building before you see anything.

Unfortunately, the side effect of this is that your vendor "doesn't exist" until someone can see it.

I think the ideal solution would be to query the database of vendors on server restart and go ahead and list them on the map even if they haven't loaded into the world, but I'm not sure how technically feasable this would be.
