Thread: Idea for placing vendors in real cities.

I have always wanted to place merchants within city limits of real cities. There are so many empty buildings in cities that could be occupied with little shops. The reason why I say politician revamp in the title is because the moment that people have the ability to place vendors within city limits, player cities will become obsolete. In my opinion player cities were a huge mistake to begin with.

There are so many ghost cities within SWG because there is no reason to go to them. There are no merchants, there is nothing special except for eye candy. This is a lot of wasted level design that needs to be put to good use.

Now a lot of you will say that the only cities that will have vendors will be Coronet and Theed. However much like player cities, NPC cities would have special crafting bonuses and Since there are so many cities in the gamethere would be about10 or more different specializations like, armor crafting, weapon crafting etc, etc.

This would mean all the vendors would spread out and go to cities that had these certain specializations. Each planet would have one of each of these types of cities.

Now this would ruin politicians with player cities. But they would have the ability to run for mayor of NPC cities, or even co-mayor. There are plenty of NPC cities to run for. Once mayor they can choose to change the faction of the city, place guards and troops charge taxes, and heck maybe even give them the ability to build onto the city.

Is this just too far fetched? I'd love to however seen merchants inside of cities no doubt.

I like the apartment idea better for the major cites, But what would make player citys better is a bigger footprint when placing a house withing a city limits, A House should have a sidewalk around it which would level the area and devoid it of plant life like a real city. all player cites look like a mass of houses close together. They don't look like a city at all. Now if the houses all change the look of the house a little. like all one color or one shape within the city limits that would be cool. But this is off topic. What though was part of the Merchant skill trees was being able to get the npcs of the city to do a barker for you. Also what would be cool would be to have the vendor walk around town. and when he is done he walks back to your shop and waits for more inventory and money, Hell this would be a sweet money sink for the devs as well

you tellhim to path you like adroid and he will walk the path and all the while he is clocking away at how much it will cost for him/her to walk around and how many times in a day you want him todo this

now that would be neat

I'd would personally love to see something like this implemented. Instead of having ghost towns everywhere taking up server resources they could be put to use.

This would take a lot of work for the dev team but in the end the gameand the community would be better for it.
