Hi! I've recently joined the ranks of master merchant and I want to rent out my vendors. How much should I be renting them for and how should I be going about my business. Thank you.

You do understand that "renting out your vendors" requires that you do ALL the work of stocking and maintaining them, right?
No other player can have admin access to your vendors.

Elyssa, I know many merchant would like to be able to rent out vendors, meaning the renter can also manage it. Have you talked to the developers about this matter anything? If so, what are their comments?

This was an issue that was taken up long before I took over here.
The general feeling is: "Not gonna happen."
Anything that gives a player access to a profession's fundamental ability without requiring them to pay the skill points to have it is a bad idea and something that I (as a player) will never support.
The better solution is to give us the ability to more easily sell things for other players.
There is a thread stickied at the top about "current issues" and this type of thing is covered there.
Some of those issues are a little out of date and I'm working to recompile the list so we can see what can get done until such a time as the Non-Combat Revamp comes along.

Well to answer your question about renting out the vendor here is what I did.
Charge 10k upfront for initial Vendor Maintenance from the player wanting to use the vendor the in the first place.
** Now for all the work you have to do **
Had them trade with me or offer to vendor for 1credit the items they wanted to sell
Got them to email me list of items with prices for item or per cpu for resources.
Moved items to sales floor of the vendor.
Collected emails and calculated profit share (I took 20% of sales each week) agreedupon to cover work that I did to stock the vendor
(merchant's friend is great for doing this part info for can be found at www.swgcraft.com)
Meet once a week at vendor location to do atip to renter (keeps from having to pay bank tip charge)
Couple of things that were agreed upon up front
1. Stocking would be done once a week (as well as paying splits from sales at same time)
2. Stocking outside of the normal schedule would be accomadated for an additional small fee
3. When and how additional Vendor Maintenance would be paid.
4. An most important was the fee for sellingand running the vendor.
That is just an idea of how to go about it but you can decide how you want to do it in your case. But hopefully it gives you a starting point for having a business this way.

A method I have used for paying the person was to have them offer a junk item to the vendor for the amount I owed them.
It's more convenient than coordinating a meetup and it withdraws from your bank balance.
You both get an email confirming the payment.
It's a real good use for those looted CDEF pistols.
It's even better if they can craft something and give it a custom name like "sales thru 2/7/05"

Damn. Thats a good idea. I wish I had thought of it when I was doing consignment sales. Course my business partner always had too many offers out to use the offers system. They really need to increase the limit from 24..

Hmm.. I love that idea .... don't have to worry as much as setting up meeting times. Will have to start sending my renter a bill each week about what their share is and just have them put a junk item up for that. Great idea thanks for that.
