In the game guide it says that with advertising IV you should get:

Word of mouth - At this skill level the merchant can hire NPC's in cities to advertise their ware and vendors.

I heard this is no longer the case. If not marqie can you please the the devs know that this is not right. This is one of the major attractions of the merchant class. I also feel it would add a great deal to the living feel of the cities.

The Prima guide isinaccurate and out of date, just like it was in EQ. I assume this was removed because it would beunbelievably annoying to everyone in the city.

POKEY THE PENGUIN SIG REMOVED BY GARVA BECAUSE "Just because you are crafty enough to get around the technicality of it being a .jpg or .gif does not mean it is not an image, it is not ascii art, it is an image" SO HERE IS MY NEW SIG.

Wow can you imagine? With how erratic and repetitive ad barking is right now just when you go near a house walking through a city where this was possible would be a nightmare. Arg make the bubbly vendors stop posing at me! IT BURNSSSSS!

aye while it would be nice to have a way to advertise in cities, I think this would be horrible. As it stands there is enough NPC spam in towns and I think even our own vendor barks should get put down to maybe 1 bark per 5 minutes instead of whenever someone comes near... the spam can get terrible if there are alot of people about. I wouldn't mind getting barkers in town as long as they only barked maybe one time every 30 to 60 minutes. Just to keep spam down.

Having signs or such in town (or maybe even a vendor in which a player could double click to get a waypoint and info of the store and maybe sample non-buyable wares that players could look at would be a much better idea. I do think it'd be good to have some form of advertising in cities but I don't think it should be barking.
