I thought I posted this before... guess not because I couldn't find it

But I really liked that idea, and you seem to have the ears of the developers more than we do on the merchant profession (for a good reason). Is there any chance of us getting this at master merchant? I'd love to see it...

Not sure, that is what I am for, not to just point out bugs, but ways to make us better

its a good idea but I think it would be abused. You ever see the Bazaar in Everquest? about 200 peopel AFK selling stuff in the same area.. Thats what the cities would start looking like if we had mobile vendors.. Unless they could only be used for liek 10 mins every X amount of time.. but then that limits thier usefullnes.. and anything taht keeps them out forveer.. will be exploitible by scripts wich woudl make AFK bazzar like areas..

Or you can open one of the many empty shells that are buildings, and make that a market place, charge rent for the space.

The having market areas where we can rent a vendor would ge a good idea... Mobile merhcnat could be so abused.. Its bad enough when you wlak in a cantin all the people that are there plus all the /afk Scrpt dancers. now add /afk Script Merchants+ thier vendors.. Would be too much. if the idea is allwoed it needs to be put somewhere contained so we avoid situations like that.

You know the reason why we cnat set up vendors in town is probally to encourage the player cities they keep promising us and having a way to do that within private cities. *shrugs* I know the idea is to have as little NPC involvment as possible.

I think you are right. IF player cities come to reality, then a shop would be right into town.

Whee, short work days are great.

Anyway, I really liked the initial idea of Master Merchants having mobile vendors. I agree that it might be abused, but if merchant xp were *cringe* harder to get, I could really see the benefit of having this nice of a perk at master. Not many people seem to be going to master merchant, so I really wouldn't expect many of these vendors to be around at any given time. Besides, I say that if you stay at "AFK" status (auto or self-set) for more than 5 minutes, that the vendor "closes up shop" until you reinitialize it. Maybe tack on a city-related tax (dependent on city's total area) that would be required to initialize the vendor in town.

If you couldn't tell, I reallyam for this idea, and would love to help out in any way(s) I can to get it into the game.

The whole 'player-city' idea is great, but the inability to sub-let space to others makes the implementation of a player-city less likely.

If an association of traders wants to open up a shopping mall..they should be able to use a LARGE building or a guildhall. A cantina with dancers could have vendors too..ect.

I don't even Want to put a vendor in the city, I'd just like to be able to advertise my store near the starport or near the bank. Give me a sign that only works while I'm actually online, or floating droids with the name and /loc of my store that patrol the city...anything!

just some thoughts
