According to the Publish 10 update notes:
-Vendors that are empty will no longer be visible on the planetary map (Ctrl-V).
I know that that as a customer empty vendors is one of the most annoying features in SWG. What is to prevent a merchant from placing an item, such as a CDEF Pistol, and selling it for the maximum price as a way of always keeping their vendor on the map? I think eliminating empty vendors from the map is a good idea, but I'm concerned that this solutiondoes notadequatelyaddress the problem and is going to create a new form of 'empty' vendor. I was curious to see if anyone else thinksthis is going to be a problem.

hmm yes, this may be true but look at it this way. If someone did do it that means they are playing the game and do want the vendor there. The vendors that will leave the map are those of people who arent playing anymore or dont restock. And yes, the majority of useless vendors will leave the map, and yes some will stay. But its a great temporary solution.
And heck. If they did put a CDEF up there after 30 days its gone so they would have to put it back up. But why would anyone really want a vendor that long if they arent using it. Makes no sense to keep the merchant skill points dont you think.
In short, your arguement is almost null. Nobody would keep the skill points used up to have a vendor empty for that long, and most people if they did have the vendor and merchant wouldnt do that.
