Most the crafter/merchants I know got into thier trades not because they enjoyed clicking thier mouse a few thousand times a day, but rather because they wanted to be the best at what ever craft/business they chose... Well how do you determine your success?

Maybe by the quality of your goods,

Maybe by the number of people you help,

Maybe by the number of items you create and sell,

Maybe by the number of sales you make a day or every week,

Maybe by the amount of money in your pocket,

I imagine most business/crafters have a little bit of all the above items as to what motivates them to craft...maybe one of those items dominates your view.. but all still play a role in why you do what you do.

AS of now I have only heard propoents of the limit state two contradictory opinions....either the limit will make everyone equel...or it will make the rich...10 times richer...

Well I dont think either of those are correct I think it will make the game 10 times worse... because while the all mighty cr might be the overriding motivation for some.... I dont think most crafters craft because they just want to get uber rich....

I know I stayed crafting and involved in the economy long after credits stopped mattering to me... I did however love the "great shop" and "your the best X vendor I have found" emails etc.... thats what kept me invovled...

Now to maintain a decent stock we must either raise our rice and take the joy away from the consumers.... or let our vendors go empty... and take the joy away from the consumers.... either way I wont enjoy it anymore because of that.

Why did you start you business? What are your main motivations when you began and what are they now?

I sell resources (not a crafter, but still a master merchant). I started for a few reasons:

1. To make some credits.
2. To sell off the extra resources I didn't want, while providing a supply of lots of other resources I might.
3. To help people by supplying something they needed.

I never really intended to be the best resource salesman out there - just a reliable one.

After the change, I'll probably stop my businesses. I may keep master merchant for a while to make money though. On my server, there are currently only about 20 master merchants. After the change, we'll need about 500 master merchants on my server to stock the items currently crafted and sold. This means that supply and demand will allow me to charge a 2000% markup on most items and I'm betting people will still buy it. If you can buy a standard set of composite armor from me for 5 million (that used to be 250k), or none at all (since the crafters won't have vendors), I'm betting people will spend the 5 million to buy one from me. Even if the other 19 merchants are selling armor, they'll run out of stock quickly and people will buy from me. And there's still weapons, food, harvesters, and a myriad of other items I can sell. Even though this change will kill the economy (and kill the businesses I already have set up), it'll probably make me very rich.

Quality.

Never since I started did I harvest "Grind Materials" I ground making the best I(and my wife) could, as Artisian, Armorsmith, Architect, and Bio-Engineer.

Not the best on the server, but the best we could do with the best we could find.

I understand they pulled the Merchant/nerf? notes but found these notes below this post.

I am all for the following:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#1 Vendors that are empty will no longer be visible on the planetary map (Ctrl-V).
#2 Vendors that have been left empty or abandoned for two weeks will be deleted (owner will receive a warning message prior to deletion).
#3 Email notifications have been added to advise vendor owners of the status of their vendor.
#4 Fixed a bug that caused items to sometimes vanish from vendors.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

and also, which not many I've seen are asking for:

#5 Those Vendors in use without current Merchant skill will be considered EMPTY as in #2 above.

#5 is the big one folks. Number 5 could be the reason this came up at all.

Of course, personally, I think business III and IV is a joke and that anyone YES ANYONE that owns a house should get a 25 min. capacity vendor that is part of the structure.

Not everyone has the Artisian tree folks=) and what's fair is fair.
