Thread: Buying By The Unit possible Help to Vendor Limit?

Okay, here's an idea to help the vendor limit from both a player and code point of view.

You know the way you can Split resources? Why not allow buyers to do that on items for sale?

The idea being that if a player has 50,000 units of identical Hide, he simply puts up 50,000 units for sale as a single item then sets a Credits Per Unit value. Players now select the Buy option and are prompted to enter how many units they'd like and are charged accordingly. The amount is then deducted from the 50,000 units "stock."

This way, players don't have to carry 5 x 10,000 or 10 x 1000 units of a resource.

Similarly (I think ) Crated foods could simply appear as X x Item in Stock and players may purchase how ever many they wish. Should a player purchase more than one of an item, they're given a crate of it and the number of items purchased is again deducted from the total.

The code surely already exists in a simple form for this (i.e. the "Split" code) and with some minor work could be expanded to include a charge procedure.

Another idea is that of a Resource Blender, where players can - should they wish - mix different sub-types of resource (e.g. Herbivore Meat) to produce a "hybrid" meat that, whilst not as effective as the original, means you can free up all those oddments of 3 and 4 units you always seem to have lying around.

What do you think?

I already proposed the idea for items.

But I think it should be limited to some items, the consumables one.

Droid batteries, power up,...

Indeed. Sorry if I didn't make that clear, but I was suggesting Resources (mainly) and consumables like food, etc

I think it's beautiful idea. I'd even like to see it taken further, simply listing the resources available, the amount available (even beyond 100K stacks), and the cpu. Same with crates of items. Let me load up four crates of 50 chest plates, and instead of the buyer having to look at 200 chest plates, they seea single item, the number available, and the cost per item.
