Thread: Ooh! I'm a genius! Or not. Lets let the stars judge me.

It has occurred to me, through epiphany, that I may have a possible solution to some of the vendor issues. The vendors aren't the problem. Its factories.

Bear with me.

We make factory runs (or at least I do) at 100-200 (and some make a full 1000) items at a time, in 10 item crates. We do that because factories are easier than hand making them, because some schematics call for "x" identical, and because it lets us have time to do other things besides click.

But *why* do we make runs of 100-200 or more? Its because factories can be a pain to use. I have to load a new schematic every time, and my runs are based on the schematic and resource amounts. Two simple changes to factories would fix this.

1. Allow factories to store schematics like the datapad can, so that we can switch schematics without having to keep a ton in the datapad, or make new ones every time.

2. Allow the number of items run from a schematic to be set 2 ways. Setting one, the original schematic, gets a maximum item set (thats 1-1000, set on creation). Then, allow the factory to control the amount produced from that schematic.

Example, I have a strucure factory. In the input hopper, I have 20 stacks of various resources. In the data storage, I have 5 schematics: Metal Chair, Divian, End Table, Large Bed, and Structure Module. These are all stored factory side. I can select one from the list, and I chose Metal Chair.

Then, I go to a new button on the radial, which is "Set Manufacturing Limit". This gives me a slider that lets me select from 1 to the max left on the schematic. I then select 50.

Originally, I would simply run 200, so I didn't have to run around with so many schematics in my datapad. This would allow more flexibility in factory item creation, IMHO.

Any thoughts? Anything I missed?
