Thread: You are already creating a vendor. ???

New feature? You can create only one vendor at a time. If you have one still in inventory and try to create another, you get this message: "You are already creating a vendor." You cannot create another until you drop and initialize that vendor, or destroy it. HUH!? Since when? Why? *mutters about stealth fixes*

Due to the majority of NPC vendors created being incredibly and indescribably ugly and horrid, we've had to remake vendors over and over until we got one that wasn't awful, or sometimes lucky and got one that was truly almost perfect. I've had a few times where I had to make 50-100 vendors before I could get one I found acceptable. This process was often made easier by letting a few "might do" vendors pile up in your inventory while you tried againto see if you could get an even better one. Once finally exhausted by the vendor creation process, then sort through your "might do" vendors, pick one to keep and delete the rest.

But with this, you are forced to make only one at a time. Argh. *sigh*

I haven't initialized the other one yet... I was waiting until the factory finished making the items the vendor is going to sell. A maintenance bug recently deleted the factory that was storing that vendor's stock from the game world.... so I wasn't ready to initialize him yet. Guess I will initialize it then.

But seeing that initialization is part of the required steps, that's probably why they instituted this new feature, IMO. un-initialized vendors seem to be immune to all the deletion mechanisms that have been added. my guess is that they require to you initialize each vendor before creating the next one to prevent people from using uninitialized vendors as permanent decorations for their houses (for better or worse).

in any case, thanks for the info.

Have not made any new vendor recently will do so very soon.

But from what I have seen on this threadI am very greatful I had made my single button macro of /createvendor

such a long time ago for the whole ease it gave to the~make look destroy~ routine we have to do.

Can drop vendor initialize and create all without ruinning to terminal....

{in case you did not know most structure functions can be accessed this way anywhere inside the house,

I used it alot while doing decor to check structure status count from the basement or upper rooms}

Well...

Share the macro already! I would kill for this one, but haven't been able to find the proper commands to make my own.

I agree that it was nice to be able to hold one or two 'might do' vendors. You get tired of spawning vendors after awhile and sometimes that slightly chubby lady vendor #14 might do after all.

Well what I do now is I drop the vendor where I want one to go, go back and create a new one. I replace if needed and then initialize when finished.

I can live with this if they say, let me move unutilized vendors around!

for me there was a bug in this new feature.

I got the "you are already creating a vendor" message when I tried to create a second. so I went and placed the vendor I was carrying, and came back to create a second one. but I can't. I now get the "you are already creating a vendor" message whenever I try to create a vendor even though I am NOT currently creatinga vendor any longer.

i've tried logging and relogging, I've also tried mutiple different terminals in different structures. no luck.

it is now impossible for me to create new vendors.

It would not let me create another new vendor until I had dropped and initialized the previous one. Then I could make another vendor.

It's a small irritation, but sheesh. Making vendors is already a torturous clickfest. Making a few to consider at a time was kinda nice.

But yeah, if we could actually pick them up and drop them again in a better spot, that would be nice too.

/createvendor

then do as normal

that's all

{sorry if it seemed I meant a full out macro for chooseing species,gender, etc. I meant just the abilty to create vendor anywhere without poking the terminal}

Can do it anywherein any building you have admins on.{you can carry vendor to another house to drop but you will incure maint fees from it sitting in you inventory}

Since I am a mouser { yeah i actually have two mice on my comp}andtype most horridly on my best days

I use enter to progress screens and copy/paste the name for vendor when in the creating routine

If your toolbar is stuffed and you do not want it filled with single commands you can always keybind macros as well

I ran across this recently too. I have 2 clothing vendors, and we are remodeling our mall soon so I will need to create 2 new vendors to move my several hundred items to, on the day we do this.

I was going to spend the time now to create the tons of vendors I'd need to create to get 2 replacements I was "happy with" to have them ready for the remodel, since I can't just move them. But now I have 1 in my inventory and have to wait for the other one which will mean spending all that time on the day of remodel to create the 2nd after they tell me where I can actually place them per the new design... it seems like a smal inconvenience, but you all know how long it takes to get one that isn't shall we say.. hideous! heheh

I can't see why they would care if you have 1,2 or even 5 vendors in your own inventory if your skill allows you to create them. I can understand the issue of un-initializd vendors as decoration and clutter in the world, but they should be able to differentiate between that and holding them in your own inventory for creation purposes.

I did this shortly after pub 10 and didn't have any problems, so it must be something that's popped up since then.

It is discouraging, however, to find out that even though the vendor is just sitting in your inventory it expects to be paid. When I finally got around to placing my vendors, they were at about 80% condition and had to be 'repaired' as soon as I dropped them.

ya, I hit this bug/feature/nerf a couple days ago. Sent a ticket in and the reply had absolutely nothing to do with my question, some stock reply by someone who's never played the game.

Who also of course locked my ticket so I couldn't clarify.

At which point I said "fugit" and plopped down an ugly vendor. Sick of fcuking around endlessly trying to create a half decent vendor when SOE can't spend one iota of effort on enhancing the game, but instead for some stupid dumb moron reason have elminated one of the ways we can try to make vendor creation a little easier.

Every ticket I have received feedback for over a month has come back locked. They don't wish to answer the question again so they make no means of saving or replying to the issue other than totally retyping it or screenshots.
