Ok, Stupid question - sorry. Who do I need to approach to get trained as Novice Merchant. I cant find any one in Coro that can help me so far.

I do have the required 5000xp

only NPC trainers can train Novice....

try the guild halls there in city...usually merchant trainer behind a counter

There is a merchant trainer in the coronet bank and outside the cantina.

Only an NPC can train you in a 'novice' skill.
