Thread: Spambot autostore on travel bug getting old

I know they say this bug is 'working as intended', because it's easier to say that than to fix the problem. But I tire of taking the shuttles everywhere when my spambot is active, then flying all over the galaxy to get to my ship (so I can fly all over the galaxy) when my spambot is stored. The only reason I bought JTL in the first place was so I could avoid taking the shuttles from planet to planet...

Merchants are currently the only profession required to take the shuttles (when using our spambots). Lame. If they're looking for easy to implement changes that affect our profession in positive ways, then this should be near the top of the list...

Without knowing the exact reason for this design decision, would you find it acceptable if your barker droid stored when you used the "launch into space" option but NOT when using only the "travel" option?

Actually, why bother with a barker droid at all if it is going to store when you play the game anyway? Seems to ME that it defeats the design purpose entirely - You place a droid to bark ads for you so you can do other things in game - If you have to stay near it, why not just turn yourself into a spambot, and eliminate purchasing a droid in the first place?

Acceptable? Yes. I don't think it's the best solution, as some people consider flying around in space as playing the game just the same as the ground game. But I personally find space uninteresting, so I don't really care what happens when I hit the "launch into space" button. But having my spambot stay put when I "travel" with my ship is important to me. And you're right - it probably is easier to code this way...

I concurr with these comments (excpet the boring space thing). The reason we buy barker droids is so that we can stop being barker-humanoids. I don't want my toon to be glued at a starport; why would I want my toon glued to a droid glued to a starport?

My droid should be wailing all day until I pick it up, or it runs ou tof juice (for those neglectful types out there). It should not stop working if I have to refresh my harvesters, go wrot hunting, or x-wing bashing. I find it hard to belive that the current limitation of our little marketers is by design. What facet of the game balance is being protected? Rather than doing good, this state of affairs is reducing the market for barker droids and increasing the perceived need for PC macro barking. Is it really likely this is by design?

Question (since I'm not in a position to test for myself at the moment):

Does the droid stay out no matter how far away you go or does it auto-store based on distance?

Check these scenarios assuming you put your droid in Coronet.

Does it auto-store if:

-You travel over land to Kor Vella

-You take the planetary shuttle to Kor Vella

-You use the traditional starport transport to Kor Vella

-You use the traditional starport to Dathomir

-You use JTL to TRAVEL to Kor Vella

-You use JTL to TRAVEL to Dathomir

-You use JTL to "Launch into space"

Is there any possible travel combination I missed?

We need to determine if there's a distance factor causing the auto-store or if it's truly a JTL thing.

EDIT: Please include the type of droid (protocol, mouse, R2, etc) that you used.

from the scenerios mentioned above:

Droid stores only when using JTL. Taking the planetary shuttle or the traditional starport transport either on planet or off planet does not cause the droid to store. Walking or riding a vehicle a great distance does not cause the droid to store. Using JTL to "travel" or to "launch into space" does cause the droid to store.

I have tested this using a protocol droid, but I believe it holds for any type of droid - spambot or not. I have not recently verified whether the droid stores on takeoff or landing when using the "Launch into space" option, but I believe it's on takeoff. Someone else can verify this part if they want. Either way, is no good. But storing on takeoff is worse.

I believe (based on my observations - not real info) that the droid stores on JTL use because rebels can use droids as part of their ships. So to avoid having too many droids out at a time (or 1 droid out in 2 locations - space and ground), they autostore all droids when using JTL. Unfortunately, this defeats the purpose of JTL for me, as the only reason I have it is to "travel". Autostoring my spambot is a big disadvantage, and precludes me from using JTL.

Thanks for taking interest in this issue Elyssa - hopefully they can fix it soon.

I would ask that everyone that has the capability and time to do so please go down the list and verify things point by point.

I'm hoping to have time to do it myself later tonight as well.

These were my observations using a Mouse droid:

Does it auto-store if:

-You travel over land to Kor Vella NO (8km away)

-You take the planetary shuttle to Kor Vella NO

-You use the traditional starport transport to Kor Vella NO

-You use the traditional starport to Dathomir NO

-You use JTL to TRAVEL to Kor Vella YES (using Sorosuub)

-You use JTL to TRAVEL to Dathomir YES (using Kimogila)

-You use JTL to "Launch into space" YES (using Dunelizard)

yeah its when using JTL travel or launch into space that the droid stores.

'working as intended' ? i find that hard to belive.

'we have more important issues to deal with' would seem like a more honest answer

FYI...it does this with pets as well as droids. JTL auto-stores my pet when I use it.
