UPDATE:

Based upon community feedback we have decided to take this design internally and work on it some more before we release it to Test Center.

We are leaving this thread open so you can continue to give us feedback and we can update you once the new design is posted.

Thanks![/quote]

Thanks for what pray tell? Apparently player input doesn't count. And real cute that you guys locked all the threads down in Dev.

A few days ago, I thought they were going to rethink this disastrous move, but no. SOE doesn't listen to the actual players who have merchant and artisans - NO - they only listen tothenon-crafters and merchantsand impatient players who can't seem to deal with paying 4K for a master level sofa.

And apparently their little sneak tactic is to LIE directly to us players then go behind our backs and make the changes anyway.

Why even bother with these forums or game updates if you guys are going to do what you want to do? Why even pretend you listen to customer feedback?

Why even have merchant or a crafter anymore???? Why even bother trying to decorate your house or have a cool looking shop ANYMORE??? There is going to be no damned reason.

Sure some people say it will even out the marketplace. Yeah the day I see uber weapons and armor selling for novice level rates is the day it will be "evened" out.

Agalaxy-wide merchant search interface in of itself is not a bad idea. I fully syumpathize with players spending time searching for items. I myself do the same.

A galaxy-wide mail order service isutter DISASTER.

If you must have such a device -

1. Make it for advertising alone.

2. Maybe even allow only MASTER LEVEL merchants access. Hell, make us pay for the privilege. As it stands, these changes render portions of the merchant tree useless.

3. DO NOT allow instant delivery. This will only serve to further empty out the game locations. And it will severely affect shop business. I depend on lots of players who come in and browse and get ideas from my decorating.

Please explain this rant. Did the changes go in anyway? Was something announced I have missed?

I was wondering the same thing.

Maybe he knows something that I don't.

Geez I sure want to know to as I just popped on to say we got a mini fix of sorts.

{the items in my own personal stock room do not show on bazaar availble items now.

It's a minor change but one I like since it means less sorting while out picking stuff up.}

I have not seen anything else related to Merchant changes,

so if the original poster would please let us know what he is referenceing too I would appreciate it myself.

Well all I know is tonight I was logging into the game to check my vendors and this message about "updates of galactic proportions"appeared in the appeared in news headlines section. I had not noticed it before and clicked on it and the merchant changes that were proposed last week sometimes (that the Devs stated they'd reconsider after a lot of player merchants complained) was back up with no changes or reconsiderations AT ALL.

"Purchasing Items
Players who purchase an item using this system will have the item sent directly to them. After a successful purchase the player will receive a message telling them if the item was delivered successfully to their inventory . . ."

The quote in yellow in my first post on this thread is from the locked thread in the Dev forums on this topic.

old link, SOE isnt known for updating pages very quickly,

And the thread was locked long after they pulled it interanlly due to the fact it deteriated into a flame fest 1 star crazy screw you rant session instead of folks posting competent rational ideas and opinions.

it isnt in game and there hasn't been naught said of this yet..we all are fairly certain it would be announced in some form before such a drastic change was implemented.

It sounds like they were thinking of mimicking (sp?) the system used by WoW for their auction houses. That works great for WoW, as there are no merchants or shops, but I have to agree that instant delivery would pretty much trash the merchant profession and the idea of shops. All you would need is a single vendor, who cares what it looks like or what the "shop" looks like.

I think the idea of being able to search is great, but the buyer should still go to the vendor to pick up product. Travel is much easier than it was at launch, with 60 second shuttles, vehicles and PC shuttleports. I know that SWG is trying to make the game more player friendly to combat WoW, but let's not get carried away? What's next... harvesters that send the contents of the hopper to your inventory and operate by remote control?

No decay + uber loot = /spit on crafters

Fix the economy and give crafters their $$$ worth... give us real revamp.

Remember... to Cancel you have to go to Register Expansion in the Launchpad.

If they go live with this I guess I will be relegated to setting up a spam bot and sitting in the starport spamming as a master merchant, since it will be the only ability we have left of our own after this.

Advertising, setting up a professional looking shop, keeping well stocked vendors. All those things would cease to have any hint of relevance if this gets implemented (and I'm talking about all of it not just the delivery option).

I get lots of business from repeat customers that keep coming back to me because I run a professional shop, keep my vendors stocked, and list only vendors on the map that are actually active and stocked. I completely understand how hard it can be to find a decent vendor sometimes when you are looking for something, but that's why it's an advantage when people find your shop and areimpressed with it. They would much rather keep coming to you than running around browsing through empty vendor after empty vendor.

If this goes live I petition they rename Merchant to "SpamBot Coordinator"

I always wanted to be able to send a driod to do this for me. Maybe risk having it attacked and lose the resources ore something but ths is star wars i driods should do the heavy work while i sit in my shop drinking jawa beer and experiment on nuclear power plants for ships.

I think they could go live with everything except the delivery - I still want people coming ot my shop. I still want them to equate that dress they got came from Desirous Styles or the house from AcME housing. As someone mentioned - travel is easy these days - 60 sec wait on a shuttle it only takes a few minutes to go get something. I as a shopper don't mind going to pick things up I do however detest going from merchant to merchant trying to find something I need. So the search would be cool.
