Thread: Merchant experience? (help a curious artisan)
i was thinking of switching my artisan skills over to business and on to merchant...but i don't know much about it...
to get merchant you need merchant xp...does that mean people buying from your vendor? i assume that is right, so does the xp go fast...or is it like 5 points for a sell...meaning i would need 1 thousand sales...heh, not sure i will be getting that kind of business
also, in order to get a better sign...the kind that stand out on the porch, do i just need Management I ?
thanks for the help! i am trying to figure out if it will be worth it for me to try and go this route just to sell some things at my remote hospital wings...
From what I've read and experienced:
150 XP per hour
50 XP per unique visitor to your vendor (there is some convoluted timing about how often a person is unique but I never bothered to test it)
50 XP per access fee use.
Yes Management I gives you the ability to change your house sign to a new merchant type sign. You can't place it where you want it sits in a predeterimined location outside your house.
Novice Merchant gives you a new vendor and the abililty to have a random NPC vendor.
Management I-IV gives you 1 new vendor each level (and a new type of sign)
Hiring gives you new options for the type of vendors (New NPC types and droids) At the higest level it now gives you the ability to give your NPCs stuff to wear. (But you can't get it back so dont' give them the most valuable stuff you have
)
Advertising gives you ad barking and the ablity to put your shop on the map. (This currently has to be reset every time the server is rebooted)
Efficiency just deals with lowering your costs but the problem is that the costs it lowers aren't that high to begin with so it turns out to be mostly a waste of time.
wow, thanks Doc!
you answered all my questions! now all i have to do is decide if i want to give up some of my other skills just to go down the business line in order to place vendors...
thanks again...very helpful ![]()
Fair warning. The Merchant Profession is broken, under developed, and frustrating. Its tough to make money because every crafter wants their own shop and doesn't want to give up any control over sales to anyone else. However, if you enjoy buying and selling, like helping people find stuff they need. Enjoy watching your bank balance grow (assuming you are successful) then it is a lot of fun.
