Thread: Prob w/ Barker Droid?
I have good luck with an R2 barker.
However, I was under the impression that the droid would auto-store if you go LD. I never though they would keep barking after you log out.

They don't stay when LD, I was just refering to the functionality statement I posted shortly after they announced that they were thinking about it. They pretty well ignored it in development, though after it hit test they brought a couple more features in line. They would be far more usefull if they lasted a while after logout though, so I still thing that is the way they should be.
I don't mind shoulding on the developers, but it doesn't make them any better at their work and they smell worse.
BTW does anybody see these in use at all? I haven't seen one (except my own) in use since they were announced. Plenty of AFK player barkers though, even though they require a separate logon and won't give a waypoint. Another good idea down the tubes through poor implementation.
Thanks for the responses. I have a protocol droid and I wouldn't expect it to stay if I logged out... but what's the point if I can't leave the area... might as well "bark" myself![]()
The few times that I was able to have it work... it did seem like I was getting more traffic to my shop tho![]()
Same as everything else in this game... looks useful or fun at onset... but then the reality of the implementation takes over![]()
Thanks for the Feedback tho![]()
You need Advertising IV to use the barker droid. I think this is their way of preventing them from being all over the place.

I apologize if this has been answered... but I searched and found nothing.
Just got my Ad Barker Droid... is it supposed to store if I leave the planet?? Placed the thing several times and had it store. Or is this just another Auto-Store problem... like w/ vehicles?? If they're supposed to store if I leave... it kind of defeats the purpose if I have to stand next to the droid while it's barking!
No it is not supposed to store if you leave or logout. It was clearly stated in the only documentation published that they should not. Unfortunately, I wrote that documentation and posted it, but the devs never read it, and they don't agree that it is a bug.
My BLL barker stores promptly on my departure, and as a result I have stopped using it. I have heard that Doc got better results with a Protocol Droid, but those cannot be named so they lose half their utility.
So the net effect is that something that could have been really great turned out worthless.
But I'm not bitter:-)

Ya I had better luck with the Protocol. I never tested anything else.
