would we be opposed to giving vendors a Storage Area separate from the stock room?

This way there would be no memory load unless the merchant accessed this interface, the merchant who owns the vendor would be the only one who could access this interface, it could have a 6k item hold capability and not effect anyones lag other than the merchant who opens it and only then when they open it.

i know we fought to get vendors away from this idea, however, that was because so many ppl were using the main sales page to store items at 99999999999999. Or maybe master merchant could be given a special droid that could not be put on the PM or given a bark ect, just a little box droid that could only be accessed by the owner and could hold 6k items.

what do you all think about it?

For whatever reason, I just don't see how we're going to get the devs to address storage. They seem to pretty much stonewall the issue and have stated it's not open for discussion in the "10 questions" feedback.

Item storage is one of those things that have been around forever. Its all a database problem. A storage area for merchant would be cool but it would still not address the issue for everyone.
Brining all buildings into line with the 75 items per lot ratio would be the ideal way to do it but since that was what they were "going" to do a year ago it does not look like it will happen. The database must not be able to handle it.

Lets face it !!!! The reason for the vendor nerf was simple.

They gave us the excuse that the data base was getting overloaded.

They gave us the excuse that all that data caused lag.

They gave us the excuse that there was a big sea of empty vendors out there.

They gave us the excuse that people were using vendors as storage.

THE REAL SIMPLE TRUTH !!!

They were making way for all the space junk "er.... loot" i mean.

One trip to space = One inventory full of junk "er.....loot"

Even though JTL was a BIG flop do you think they will help out the merchants ?

Lets see they lied to us ...........

They blame us for the lag , however there is hundreds of post addersing the actual cause of the lag.........

They never answer our questions........

They never fix our stuff..............

Humm...... I would say we are pretty much at the bottom of there list

actually, in my post previous to yours chava, i addressed a storage droid system that would help storage for everyone, not just merchants. as well, there are several threads on core systems that are discussing ways to fix lot/item restrictions in ways to best destribute them to players geared toward professions who need them.

well another idea I had was a "Storage Droid" that Merchants or DE could sell. Each person could ownas many as5of these, and they would have a max capacity of 50 items. No one could access the droid other than the owner, it would have to be placed like a vendor, only the owner could pick it up without destroying it before initializing, have to initialize it to use it, once initialized it cant be moved. Only, rather than the vendor interface, it would be just like opening a pack or some other storage item. The items inside would only need to load when the owner accessed it, and even then, the only person it would effect would be the owner. Items stored in a "Storage Droid" would not count towards the structures item count. I would like to see them default style (only style available) the big black box style droids (cant remember their names - not the mse droids the big ones that look like containers). Making such an "undesirable" default appearance would incourage ppl to place them in designated storage rooms.

this would increase storage for every player by 250 items without a overhaul on the system.

The storage droid idea is not a bad one. It would essentially be working as a container and a vendor. Not sure if the picking up and moving it would be possible but if so that would be great.

The droid you are most likely referring to are the Power Droids, look like a trashcan. Would would probably be better are Binary Load Lifters, the big ones. They are designed for heavy lifting anyways.

Another option would be making item storage modules for droids stackable so instead of ten items per droid, people could load an R3 with 60 items. Though thats more an idea for the DE forums.
