Reproducable, 100% of the time.
Call out your barker, travel via JTL. The barker droid automatically stores itself.
Call out your barker, travel via traditional means, the barker droid stays out as it should.
I've found this to be irritating till I realized it was JTL travel that caused it to store itself. It was making advertising a pain.
