Ok, so, they've tinkered with the vendors twice now, and they still haven't addressed the truly clunky parts of it. There are two changes that have been suggested many times, which would go a long way towards improving the buying and selling experienceas well asreducing the database burden. The first thing, of course, would be properly sorted listings, and the second would be per-unit pricing of resources and crated items.
Everyone knows the sorting on both the vendors and the bazaar is a joke; i.e. when you sort resources by name, you should not have aluminum to steel on all 10 pages! Even just this change would reduce database burden because someone looking for specific or the most recent items would not have to look at every single page if it was properly sorted; i.e.so that aluminum was only on the first page(s) and not the last page
The other main problem is that the vendors cannot be stocked in bulk, resulting in many more listings than are really necessary.Instead of breaking a container of resources or factory cratesinto chunks to suit all buyers, a merchant should have the option of setting a cpu price on the entire crate. The simple way could set the cpu for each container, but the challenge for the programmer would be to set a cpu price for every containerwith that serial number or resource name on the vendor. Again, this would be an option to also allow bulk sale prices of intact crates or containers. With this change, the number of itmes listed would be drastically reduced, reducing the server bandwidth and database load. The current vendor limits would probablyfeel nearly asinfinite as when there was no limit, so there probably wouldn't be much grumbling if the devs wanted to lower the item limits.
With these changes, I could live with the excessive clicking required by some other parts of the vendor interface. Please push for these features, with enough supportthis could alsobe broughtto the attention of thoseas far up the SOEchain of command as necessary.
