Howdy all,

This is an idea that I have been tossing about for a while now. I suspect it will get torn apart, but maybe it will catch on and the devs might use it.

One of my biggest problems as a merchant and a reseller is getting items from my clients to sell them. With the current limitations on the vendors, keeping up with my clients is a fulltime job. I already have one of those in the real world. So, an idea hit me that might help out. Awholesale market could provide merchants and crafters alike with an alternate way of getting thier goods to the general public and save time for the merchants AND the crafters.

Here's how I envision it working.

Merchants

Becomming Novice Merchant gives you access to the market as a Buyer only. With novice Merchant you get the ability to purchase 25 items a day.

Gaining a full tier (IE 1/1/1/1 or 2/2/2/2) in Merchant increases the amount of items you can purchase from the wholesale market. The number of items can be increased by100 for each additional tier. Increase the number to 175 for the Master block to round out the total to 600.

To make in addition to Player Cities, a Wholesale Market Terminal could be placed by the mayor or by a Master Merchant that grants access to just the Wholesale Market but looks simular to a small bazaar as found in the static cities.

The Wholesale Market can be searched simular to the galaxy wide search that just came out in publish 14.1. But a Merchant will still have to travel to that terminal to buy the merchandise.

Crafters - (Or everyone else)

Becomming novice in any elite profession that can possibly produce anything at all, which isn't all of the elites, allows that professional to offer items up for sale, for any price, up to 25 items.

Or, with the loots, everyone has access to sell up to 100 items for any price but only Merchants have access to buy.

Once a crafter/player has Mastered one Elite profession (IE; Holds on to one Master elite box) he/she can sell up to 300 items at any price.

A bonus could be given to the crafting professions to increase the number of items they can sell. A normal non crafter only picks up looted items and has old items to resell after using them. Crafters, on the other hand, base most of thier game play on the economy for the most part. Or, as an alternative to allow everyone to have access to an increased number of items to sell, set up the business line on the artisan tier. Business I; 25, Business; 100 and so on up to 600.

General Notes

No one but a Merchant can buy items from the wholesale market.

Exsisting Bazaar terminals can be used to facilitate the new market. If you are a merchant a button can appear on the top that you can select that will take you too it.

As a seller on the market, you can select wholesale in the same area that you can select premium and then set the price as high as you would like.

As a seller, you can select auction or instant sale just as with the original Bazaar.

My personal opinion is that this would help facilitate the economy inside the game. Combined with the other recommendations from other posters here, I think it would set up the Merchant profession to be one of the best. Plus, it will help regular players get more involved in the economy and facilitate trading. It might even cut down on the spam at the starports. And, with the space expansion, it might even start up a cargo business with merchants purchasing from one planet to sell to a buyer on another.

Obviously, the idea will take a bit of refinement. Details need to be worked out from the player's stand point. And if the devs take notice, they will have to work out the programming details. Heck, some people may find the idea to be absurd. Anyway, pick at it and help me make it better, or show me how utterly wrong it is. I look forward to discussing it with the rest of you. Thanks for your time.

I haven't seen what the point of this wholesale market is. What makes it wholesale anyways?

That idea is really good, Im all for it.

They should also implament (not sure if this would fit in on your idea in any way what so ever) a data pad with all the stuff you have for sale, so you can trade, or have a redial menu on your charater that allows people to see what you are selling at the moment. So basicly you are a walking vender hehe.
