Thread: Easying the merchant pain

I imagine this will be rather un-popular but because of the recent vendor changes, and what the merchant skills do I have decided I'd like to see the merchant skill tree lose it's skill cost. For what they do and how easy it is to get merchant xp it would be nice to have those points free'd up for other endevors. It would still be an 'elite' class so only people that actualy want to be merchants would deal with it probly would since you would have to get five artisan skills just like you do now but it would give me back some more options for my playing enjoyment from a skill set that i realy don't use/need some of the skills, especialy since the vendor search change. it /might/ also free up some people from working on trying to 'fix' merchant to possibly fixing the vendors themselves and there search features.

You're right about it being unpopular. Let's just lose the skillpoint requirement on everything shall we? That sounds like a better idea, doesn't it? Then everybody can be everything instead of hoping for a fix to anything.
And I seriously doubt that there is anybody working to try and "fix" merchant so that wouldn't free up anybody.

Dude, I was arguing for zero-cost merchants before they did it to politician. Merchant is nothing but a point sink for crafters to keep them from also being able to fight well.
Moreso, now.

They could always make the same change as to ID ... then again, it's not too likely, ID is becoming totally useless in a practical sense.

The problem is that everyone would take it, store 4000 items on their storage vendor, and use spambots in the cities. Would be a mess. So SOE would respond by limiting vendors to 1 item each at master merchant, and making spambots autostore if you move, speak, or run an afk macro. They're heading this direction anyway, as they're running out of ways to nerf merchant. They don't need encouragement...
