Thread: Merchants Advertising on the Map and not selling anything
OK gang, here is a rant.
I have gone to four different merchants today all advertising that they are selling what I am looking for. And not one of them has anything on their merchant. This is a pain in the arse for us who travel all over the galaxy trying to buy your wears.
Has anyone ever thought about getting Verant to either:
1. Take advertised venders off the map if they are empty?
2. Put venders that do nothave anything on them at the bottom of the list?
3. Mark the vender in some way on the map as being empty?
IT would have sure saved me a lot of time today.
I found that this happened frequently even when vendors did not re-register every day. This meant that the vendor owners would get online, see that the vendors were empty, and register them anyway. No, this was not a case of something selling out in record time, this was sheer stupidity. It made me so mad that when I was not restocking during exams, I purposely unregistered my vendor even though it had 500+ items on it, just so when I ran low on stock, people would not be tricked into trekking all the way to my shop.
Because of vendors who do not check stock, I question the efficacy of the overhead map. A listing on the overhead map will not make me visit a vendor anymore: I always now wait for a personal recommendation and contact the crafter by e-mail before I travel. As a crafter myself, global ad is simply a useful tool for saving me the trouble of sending people the waypoint.
I like the idea of having some indication on the map of how well-stocked the vendor is, but I realize that this is probably not feasible.
People will wise up on how to use the registry if they have not already done so. If I am in search of a vendor I set upWP's for ahalf a dozen or so and run through them all. I quickly delete the WP's of those that are short or have no stock. As time passes myretained vendor WP's will be heavy on the "stocked vendor" side.
ActuallyI see it as somewhat ofa benefit to those that dostock to have those that do notplace themselves on the registry. It gives the stocking vendor a real long term advantage. the repeat customer. I still need places to look and the registry provides that.
