I was gaining Merchant xp steadily through 5 vendors in my shop up until the morning patch. Generally I go AFK and sit around the shop while I sleep and when I wake up at 0600 Pacific, I reboot and relog to AFK camp the shop through the day. As of my morning reboot I've gained no xp and I'm 150 points short of Management IV.

1) Has anyone else experienced this today?
2) Is this some common bug that comes and goes?
3) Is this something to panic about?
4) Am I just doing something wrong?

All my vendors are paid for and have merchandise on them. The house is paid up. Bloddy 'ell.

I am 2 boxes away from master merchant...been at it for about 2 weeks or so. I do'nt stay in my shop at all...I just visit there once a day. Usually when i get home from work and log off in my shop and log back in.WhenYoulog back on in the shopit seems to be the timethat you get the experience.With 6 vendors up i getover 20,000xp every day. my vendors are payed for 4 to 6days at a time. So in short it seems like i get expwheather I am on or not. Since I dont run my machine all day. I think you are putting too much into it. Do merchant as a side profession...while u do other stuff...I finished 3 other profession while i had merchant runing.

My Merchant XP seems to have capped 2500 short of Management 2.... I haven't had a chance to see if it is still acting up or not, as I'm at work.

I was wondering this myself...

I logged in this afternoon to check my harvesters like I always do and noticed that since the patch this morning my exp bar hasn't budged one pixel. I stayed online for a while thinking that it was the update lag problem that I'd been having recently, but after crossing several server boundaries and being outside of a city for quite a while the bar still hadn't moved. I know that there were vendor issues on other servers (and pretty major ones from what I can gather), but did the fix they pushed out this morning muck with the passive experience that we're supposed to get (intentionally or not) or is my experience for just that character bugged and I need to report it as such? Hrm.. I might do that anyways... I'll have to see if the experience bar is in the same position when I log back in this evening...

Anyone else having this problem or is this a relatively isolated incident?

Well, looks like this was just a short bug. I reboored, logged back in ans waited a minute for the house items to load, no xp. I then stepped outside, walked far enough away for the house to unload, walked back in, things reloaded and I got a lump of xp about even with what I estimate to be 3 hours worth.

After reading Chataka's comments in a nearby thread I find that camping the vendors is no longer necessary, but hey, who wants to take chances? =)

I think I've spent a total of about 20 minutes in the house with my vendors. After I created my first vendor, it had nothing on it for about a week (sold out and I was unable to log on due to RL). When I was able to log on, I didn't get any exp until I crafted 1 item. When I got the experience for that item, I suddenly got about 20k merchant experience.

I think sometimes the game just needs a little nudge.

often I log on and see i've gained not much merch exp, then I go to my building with 6 vendors, the room loads and/or I use a vendor and suddenly my merch exp jumps way up. It's like slowly rising but not registering on your bars until you load them/use them. Seen this happen several times.

This is not a bug..it is as intended. There was a change in November that has the items in a house (even a vendor) load only when someone is near them and unload shortly afterwards. I am sure this is a server stability/speed change. Because of this the vendors don't give you xp when they are not loaded. This caused us to lose xp. They fixed that by changing it so that when the vendors load they calculate the xp they were supposed to give you while they were on break and send it in then. This prevents you from losing your xp.
