Man that sucks. I also got merchant from a holo before, and it took me about a month to get through it. My best advice to you is to go up the management tree first, placing your vendors as you go. You get 150 xp per hour for each vendor. I know its slow and it sucks ass. Also, if you put an access fee on the building you have your vendors in you get 50 xp for everyone person that pays that fee, and you also get 50 xp everytime someone looks at your vendor. But, if you get a buddy to go in to help you grind, you only get the 50 xp every ten minutes unless its different people.

So, good luck to you, I guarentee you'll hate it. I did.

Thank you SO much for coming in here and telling us how bad our profession sucks simply because you can't click your way through it ina matter of hours. Honestly what more could you people want? You don't have to DO anything to get xp. Simply keep vendors maintained. That's it. This is why we get testy with holomerchants. They are always so helpful and complimentary of the profession we enjoy.

lol. im a new player. well i was in beta but i just got the game and got merchant as a holo even thought i was going to take it up anyway and i dont think it is half bad considering.

the only downside at the moment is im finding it hard to get any wares to sell because alot of crafters have gone holo grinding so im basically left with empty vendors and houses. ill probably either master a crafting profession of some sort but that leaves me with little skill points for various combat skills so i might just have to give merchant up all together

The key to this game is making friends man. Without other players making money is tough tough tough. I'm in a guild (hence the sig) and will be getting much of my items and resources from them. Also it doesn't hurt to have another profession that provides you with stuff to sell (like smuggler). Also, if holos have got your suppliers down, change your business. Buy all of their grind products cheap. The key is knowing the markets. For instance, those hologrinders doing architect are likely grinding by making fiberplast walls. Buy those and sell them to real architects.

God....why do people always come here and say -- "**edit**......I got this **edit**ty ass profession for my Holo, Merchant, God Damnit!" I got merchant for my holo too, but I'm gettin through it, and I'm not complainin. It's so easy to master, I mean it might take a while, but it's easy. Check...this is this tha only profession tha gets a given amount of xp per hour (with a vendor initialized)! No matter what! I mean all my vendors are stocked, that is stocked full of useless stuff, but it's not bad knowin that u've got vendors out there under you. I mean I like havin tha "Manager" and "Propagandist" title above my name. Just don't complain and whine about it, it in general makes other merchants angry. Just read tha stickies before u post stuff like this...thx.

There is nothing wrong with the merchant profession & yes, it seems very easy to master if you wish to wait it out. The thing is, hologrinders (like me) want professiosn we can grind in 4-6 days& move on to the next one. Most all other professions will take a shorter amount of time, that is what we're complaining about. We can't "grind" in the usual sense of the word. That is the complaint, nothing else. Getting Master BH is a pain too & you probably can't get it in 1 week BUT you get to go to combat & hunt things. Merchant is exactly what you said... you sit & wait for the xp to come in. We can't help it along.

Yes we could go master something else to pass the time but I'm limited in how many skill points I can alot to any holo prof. I had to drop all ofmarksman to get it, since I do not plan on giving up MCH. & I have 200k-300k of various weapon XP that I'll use to get marksman back. but if i pick up a gun & use it once, I'll lose all that xp. So I can't use weapons right now, I just have to wait.

Good Get Fuzzy Quote by the way. Wasn't that when he fought the chicken?

Anyway, take up an artisan profession. Go make something. If I was doing this holo chasing thing I'd clear my pallet of everything but ONE profession to keep to help. Like Pistoleer or something, and devote the points to one or two professions. If you DO master another artisan profession, then you can do something constructive with your time. Then drop it. Then master another one. From my understanding you can grind through ALL of them in a matter of days and probably do it before you get through merchant. So save yourself some trouble. Or go do smuggler. You may have to eventually, get it out the way. You've got the pistol xp, go get slicing and spicing xp and get it over with. I can't think of everything for you

Bottom line is, it's the easiest thing you can do, but if you can't spend the time waiting constructively for whatever reason that doesn't mean it needs to change or that you get to complain and tell us how bad our profession sucks. I don't mean you personally. Just hologrinders in general.
