Will I get xp from vendors that I have placed every hour, or does someone have to 'bring them into the world'...(ie go to them) to get the xp?

I have 3 now (vendors), will I get 450 xp every hour reguardless of anybody visiting my shop, or does someone have to pop in every hour or do the vendors have to exist in the world for 60 minutes for you to recieve the xp?
