yeah its annoying, my vendors are all twi lek slave women but half of them or too fat n ugly to really attract sales, with a few extra vendor questions, such as age meter weight meter or even skin color or hell let image designers be able to work their magic on vendors,

Hehe... it's that sedentary lifestyle vendors have. More than not have a noticeble paunch. Seriously, though, this is annoying. If we can dress em, we would be able to style their hair and put them on a fitness program, too.

I found this pretty annoying as well. I don't know how most merchants do it, or if they even care, but before I ever place a vendor I already know exactly what I'm looking for, because unlike most merchants, I actually give my vendors real names and treat them like people instead of vending machines. Having to sit there through all the thousands of combinations of random weight, age, skin color, hair style, etc. is a huge annoying pain in the butt. I was lucky to find a suitable employee after about 30 minutes of "vendor grinding". For all you people that think the merchant class sucks, just consider how many merchants actually go through an "application" process for hundreds of vendors just trying to find the right one to serve you!

See, I don't like the thought of walking into a shop, and seeing some random (usually fat and old ) NPC standing there with a name like "Joe's Uber Weapon Shop". They're not vending machines. They're people. People have names. "Joe's Uber Weapon Shop" is not a name for a person, and frankly it kills the atmosphere of a shop. So, I give my NPC vendors names, and even personalities to the extent that we're allowed through the ad barking menus.

Just tonight I trained in management 4 and master merchant, so when I got back to my workshop I decided to create my final vendor, for smuggler items. I went through the process for about 30-40 minutes just trying to find a suitable human female, and since it's so boring and annoying and takes so long, you really have to think about the "pretty-good" ones that you find, because you may never ever find another one like it. I got lucky, and pulled a slim and fit human female with light colored skin and nice facial features (except for her freckles; the woman has tons on her face, but you don't really notice unless you get right up there and look), and dreadlock-style hair braids; she fit my pre-determined template very well. I crafted up a simple butstylish outfit for her to wear that was not like the uniforms of my other merchants, and named her "Dead-Eye Donna - a shady smuggler". I gave her a pistol to hold, even though I don't like vendors carrying weapons or wearing armor, because it fits her theme; obviously she's a smuggler and pistoleer, and it makes sense for her to have a weapon drawn due to her questionable business. Also, since my shop is a small Tatooine house, I have my other 5 vendors in the front room, however I put the smuggler merchant in the back room near my workstations; she's standing in the corner, facing the door with her pistol drawn, and right next to her isa cafe table and four cafe chairs in a dimly lit room, so it looks like a back-room gaming table (this is atmosphere! ). When someone gets near, she uses the "beckon" animation, and the "alert" mood, and says "Pssst, back here in the back... If you're looking for something "special" I might be able to help you.". I figure that her wares should be obvious, since she has "a shady smuggler" right there over her head. She's registered on the global map, so people can find her if they're looking, and most people seem to run all overa house anyway, so she's not really hidden, just intentionally placed to create a sense of atmosphere.

If I could create a vendor with a name that had numbers in it, I would really have fun with a human named something like "VK-27" guarding the door in a full suit of Stormtrooper armor. You could use ad barking to make him warn everyone to put their weapons away, and such. The way I see it, once you create a vendor and place it they're going to be there for a long time, so you should be happy with them and have no regrets a week later.

This is just one way that the players can add their own atmosphere to the game, to enhance the immersion factor. I figure the people that hate ad barking will just suck it up and go about their business, but the people that actually enjoy the theme of the characters will be quite happy about it.

I spent ages trying to make a younger model (lets face it - old/fat = less sales). I',m a Master Merchant SURELY I should be able to pick age (and weight!) of the people I employ?

(btw Gemini Solutions is an equal opportunity employeer)

You forgot chestless. Fat, old, and chestless.

I swear the devs have a fat/old/chestless fetish or something.

I look forward to the day we can control vendor appearance in some way and I can finally make my group of blonde goddess's.

You think that's bad... imagine getting a rodian abomination 20 times in a row because you haven't made it up the Hiring column yet

So add fat, old, chestless fetish for canines to that list!!!
