Thread: The Majority of Merchants are Making a Huge mistake....

It is unfortunate that many merchants that are in this profession for the roleplay .. are making the biggest mistake ever... To many people believe that this profession solely revolves around vendors.. AND that is not the case.. Focusing all of this energy on worring who has vendors is a waste.. and quite frankly you remove vendors from other crafting professions and you will hurt the economy more than help it anyway(i can go on and on with validating points here but I wont)..

Besides.. A merchant can and should be way more than how many vendors they can control.. and this is the area that 100% of our energy should be focused in .. WE NEED MORE ABILITIES.. we should get to have reduced ticket fees.. we should have special backpacks with higher limits and special vehicles with ability to store stuff.. (for merchant transports).. we should have the ability to have higher limits in our safety deposit box and abiltiy to access it from any planet.. we should be able to craft specific items for shops.. the list can go on.. but i think that you get the point.. there are alot of inteligent people here.. think of what we could come up with if we focused our attention on what is truely a priority ...

We focus on just the vendors and cry the loudest for these.. what does that give us?? More content ... NO.. they give us the vendor issues and after a few weeks what then?... many will say .. Now what do we do?.. then we will come to these boards and beg for content.. and guess what.... Devs answer will be We already overhauled the merchant profession, its time to move on to Image Designer..

So please see what is important here...

I agree that merchant needs more revampd skills to actually be worthy of the investment of precious skillpoints. The reason many are vocal about vendors is because instead of improving the merchant class, the powers-tht-be had the nerf bat aimedsquare on the backbone of merchants - the vendors. The 150 cap would have been devastating for many merchants. Also, knowing that many of us merchants have invested the precious skill points for this profession, it was hard enough dealing with those who would take up the profession and abandon it as soon as they got vendors up. It did not bother me too much, but I am in merchant for more than vendors....I like the 20% off structures and the planetary map. Even ad barking amuses me.

I agree that a bit more should be allowed ofr the merchant class. I would like to see raised price caps and item limits on the bazaar. I would like to see more of a structure break and transportation break. I would like to see a special building that can only be owned and maintained by a merchant allowing a much better inventory amount (maybe a shop window too). I would like to allow a nonmerchant to use one of my vendors for a fee should I choose to (like maybe a percentage of all sales). I think these are ideas that have been well expressed time after time. Maybe by concetrating on an issue or two at the time, our voice will be better heard.

I would like to see merchants be able to place a shopping mall in cities, then rent secure vendors in the mall that only the renter has rights/access to as long as they pay thier mall/vendor fees. That would fix alot ofthe Vendor issues. Think of the Revenue that cities/merchants could generate. This could helpcity economy issues and hunting for a vendor.

Then we move along to The bazaar Issues. Merchants should have more pricing options on the Bazaar, they should not have the 3k limit like the rest of the players do. Thier bazaar price Limit should be based on thier merchant skill.

There is alot of potential for the Merchant class, as it stands right now I am only master in the effeciencies line as that is the only real line that is a benefit in the merchant class with the exception of planetary advertising. All the rest just seems silly to me. I only need 1 vendor though I can see a need for 2 or 3 vendors Iguess. Do any think that a vendor's clothing, speech, or any particular raceaffect sales? They are just a distraction to me.

Great post... this is EXACTLY what the merchant class needs...more strengths and less nerfs.

I love the idea of larger backpacks
I love the idea of higher vendor item caps
I love the idea of more abilities, such as placing vendors in cities
I love the idea of reduced shuttle tickets and other fees

I really believe that every crafting profession should have at least 1 vendor, capped at maybe 250 items.

Cant have that because all the exploited vendors are killing the **edit**ty database.

Not gonna happen unless you want to see thousands of exploited vendors everywhere lagging the crap out of everyone.
I love the idea of reduced shuttle tickets and other fees

Why? I wish they would just remove the 10 minute wait and increase the fees.

One particular part of being a Master Merchant that annoys me the most is that nothing sets me aside from the character with Business 3 when selling an item on the bazaar. We both get a cruddy little start next to our sale item, that costs more than its honestly worth.

An improved bazaar notice for Master Merchants (or not Master, maybe at the 4 teir on one of the Merchant branches) that sets aside players with no Business skill, players with Business 3, and real Merchants.

I agree on those ideas. Those are EXCELLENT ideas to add "benefits" to staying as a Master merchant. I am doing it for holo due to my love for PvP more then the business aspect.

But I will say from a holo grinder and true fan of the game, If those were added to the class(better Backpack, merchant transport,..etc)I would think of seriously staying in the business realm.

If I could just make and place Jubilee Wheels and place them in my shops....I would never have to craft again and could just sit back and watch the cash flow in...!
