I just reached Efficiency 4 and am now able to place a Merchant Tent. I have a couple of questions that I hope someone here can answer for me first though........

How many lots does a Merchant Tent use?

If I place the Merchant Tent can I then use the /transferstructure command to transfer it to my character on a secondary account? That character's lots are used for holding my main's houses, factories, etc. and that character does NOT have Efficiency 4.

Can you link the FAQ where you found this information? I'm curious about these questions, too... and I can't find the FAQ you are talking about.

I would like to I setup a merchant tent and have vendors added, mine and other people's vendors. If I drop merchant what will happen to the tent and the vendors? Any help would be appreciated.

At this point, nothing will happen. You can drop all of the merchant skills and keep the tent (which you cannot redeed) and keep your vendors (just cannot place new ones), can keep any planetary registration you have done (cannot change or add more) and keep your ad barking (cannot change or add more).

At some point down the road, the developers will be changing how this works. It has already been stated by an SOE employee that being able to keep the vendors and such after dropping merchant was not what the developers intended.

So until that time, you can use the vendors and tent without merchant skills.

Question:

I know Efficiency 4 allows you place place the tents, but if you drop hiring 4, do you automatically lose the tents?

Hireing 4 have nothing to do with the tent, you can drop the entire hireing line and nothing will happen to your tent.

With the fixes being done to merchant to stop people from dropping skills after they place vendors, I wouldn't advise it because who knows what will happen...

I do know that you can not transfer the tent to someone unless they have Efficiency IV. I hope this helps
