Thread: Spam not being seen

I feel like this isn't the most important question, but I want to know why when I shout my spam at the starport with anyone else spamming around me that my spam gets covered up. I have my biggest days on sales when no one else is spamming around me, but I have much less sales when someone is behind or in front of me spamming. I've examined this with my alt just to see if it's just because I'm seeing my own spam and it's not. I've tried changing from shout to yell and it doesn't matter. I've tried in frontand behind other spammers and it doesn't matter. I've tried my spam before and after other spammers and it doesn't matter. I've tried my spam invervals, length of spam, and I can't figure it out. Please someone help me cause I'm getting extremely pissed seeing anyone can spam around me and override my spam that I depend on to make better money.

I don't think you'll get much help or sympathy here. Everyone pretty much hates spam. Its contributes horribly to the lag and is annoying as hell.

Its not bad enough that we have to put up with spam in our RL emails, but having to deal with panhandlers in a game is pretty sad.

I would say my barker droid make naff all difference too, people hate spam.

Playerstend to visit the bazaar, map, or ask around if they want something, so I think AFK spamming and barker droids should go and be replaced with more prominent map listings (mini ads if you like) for master merchants.

Come on people, I hate spam too. But when i spam for a day my sales are about 2-4mil a day and about 500k with no spam. Until SOE comes up with some kind of classified adds that people can just walk up to that lists merchants products then I'm forced to spam. Everyone has gotten something good from spam, so don't pretend that its just useless and annoying. Still my question remains the same, because I'm sure people want to see that they could get a full suit of composite for 250k, resouces at 1.5cpu, and cheap food/weapons than they guy behind spammin loot kit parts for 50k. The reason this is on the merchant boards is because merchants are the people spamming. So please, just tell me why everyone elses spam overrides mine and save the protesting about spam until there becomes a better alternative to selling product.

2million, 4million, 10bucks, either way, you may be doing well in sales, but the masses will dislike what you are.

you have something apperently someone outthere wants, but other than that, you are the same as the telemarketting company

that calls me once a day.

Apparently you don't hate it bad enough not to contribute to it.

But when i spam for a day my sales are about 2-4mil a day and about 500k with no spam.

Then settle for 500k a day and allow people the peace of being able to carry on conversations in spatial.

Until SOE comes up with some kind of classified adds that people can just walk up to that lists merchants products then I'm forced to spam.

Noone FORCES you to spam. You CHOOSE to do it.

Everyone has gotten something good from spam, so don't pretend that its just useless and annoying.

I didn't say it was useless. However, I DID say that it was annoying.

Still my question remains the same, because I'm sure people want to see that they could get a full suit of composite for 250k, resouces at 1.5cpu, and cheap food/weapons than they guy behind spammin loot kit parts for 50k.

Spam is spam. The ends does not justify the means. Don't try to convince anyone here that you spam for the good of other players. Ah yeah....right.....like its some sort of public service. You do it for you and your bank account.

The reason this is on the merchant boards is because merchants are the people spamming.

WRONG. People that need apprenticeship points spam. People who are looking to group with hunting parties spam. People who are looking for training spam. All these I don't mind because they have nothing to do with an invasion of spatial chat for monetary gain. People that spew crap about their vendors and shops endlessly drown out all these people I mentioned here. If it drowns out your shameless public plugs for your business, just imagine how hard it is for them to get trained or grouped.

So please, just tell me why everyone elses spam overrides mine and save the protesting about spam until there becomes a better alternative to selling product.

Absolutely not. As a matter of fact, I highly recommend that people put spammers on their ignore list. I highly recommend that you talk to the players that wear their master crafting tags and master merchant tags who are actually playing the game rather than standing around peddling for hours on end. I highly recommend people don't shop at vendors that are promoted by spam and give the guy that respects your public spatial channel your business. I highly recommend that people take the time one day to just do nothing but shop for the best deals and find places to do your regular business with. I highly recommend that you use word of mouth to spread information about what merchants sell the best stuff for the best price and ignore the spammers.

You'll make more money developing a solid business in a solid location with vendors that are available 24/7 and always stocked than you ever will spamming. I refuse to deal with some of the biggest vendors on my server--even though some of them are quite nice--because they spam. My ignore list is huge, and it's 99% spammers. (The other 1% are people who don't understand that "No, I can't track for you," means "No, I can't track for you.")

Spam is evil. If you really must insist on spamming in public, at least go the nice route of one line every minute. The faster you spam, the faster the guy next to you feels like he has to spam, and soon I'm taking seven minutes to load Theed and my screen is filled with your crap and I vow to never, ever buy from any of you.
