Thread: Easy way to get artisans to use Merchants more for item sales / distribution.
We all agree there needs to be more incentive for an artisan to sell his wears through a Merchant Vendor..
Well how about Useage XP for any item is doubled if it has been bought from a merchant vendor ??? This should be easy to impliment as you only need to add a flag to the item. Would be a great boost to both classes (read no NERF whatsoever) - shouldn't be Uber unbalancing as ALL crafter types can utilise it..
If an artisan wants to sell stuff himself then great, but he will only get the standard useage XP from it...
Any Thoughts ???

I'd originally thought UXP was a great idea for solving the problem of grinding. Make everything UXP. The problem with this is dumping. That's why UXP isn't higher than it is. Already people are dumping items on the market for little or no money in order to generate UXP. If you do this, they'll just pull novice merchant to get more UXP and surrender it when they've levelled up by dumping and send all of us to the poor house with their 1cr items.
And no, not all of us agree that the issue of resellers is an issue. It never really occurred to me before coming to this boardthat anyone would pay someone to be a middleman. I expected quite as has come pass that merchants would be crafters and that merchant was a secondary line for those of us who are making crafting and merchanting our sole occupation as opposed to those who are also a rifleman or medic or whatever.
Well I was suggesting that you only get the extra UXP if you sell it through a merchant who was not the original crafter..
You've hit the nail on the head in that the class is fine if you are a crafter + merchant, however those of us who do not wish to be a crafter are restricted as to what usefullness we can offer. I see this idea as generating more usefullness without taking anything away from anyone else..
I am a merchant, I do not craft.. I do not want to craft. Yes I have a few combat skills so i can defend myself when travelling and looking after my harvesters, but thats it..
My first impression on reading about the Merchant profession was exactly that a Merchant would be a middleman between crafters and buyers, providing the "service" of an outlet for crafters to sell their wares without having to own and operate their own shops. Like a business man owning a mall renting shops spaces but not actually selling anything himself. And providing the space and vendor services for a "rental fee."
But that doesn't seem to be how thingsworked out in practice once the game went live. I think it's because of the uh oh with the "...we never meant for players to be able to own more than one house..." (Holo or Q-3PO, I can't recall which said it.) Now it's too late to undo that error and everyone can have a house and a shop or few too, there's not much call for there tobe a "Mall Merchant" is there?
