Thread: Advertising 4 Vendor in town
I believe the "word of mouth" vendor systemwas removed very early in beta.....
Can anyone confirm this exists? I haven't seen one, but would like one. Definetly don't want to waste the experience.
No it doesn't. The mouse over says:
"At this skill level the increased maintenance cost for advertising your vendor on the global map is reduced."
That's all it says, nothing about vendors in town. Was taken out early in beta, with how busted ad barking is who would want 100 merchants all in row shouting at you in town.
It was NOT taken out in beta, it was in PRODUCTION a couple weeks ago - I can vouch for that. It was a stealth nerf in one of our famous daily patches...
But, it is indeed GONE, and I would guess will never be coming back...
Its really ashame. There are so many areas of the cities that are completely empty and would be great for a merchant run bazaar with outdoor shops and barkers. They really should be adding to our class instead of taking away.
Well in their defense, there are also a lot of cities with a lot of lag and people are already complaining about NPC spam. I think the barkers in cities would probably become hated.
Obviously the replacement is a joke.
Anything taken away from a class that over three fouths of the skills don't work or work but not properly is a bad idea. But on another note even if they left it in it probably didn't work so we aren't missing anything vital.
Why do they nerf things like this, and not post it? Just plain bad customer service.
Was in the game during Beta 3, taken out when game went live due to the beta boards being filled with petitions to stop the NPC spam. They do need to have something decent to replace it with, current skill is a joke.
I think there should be some way of advertising through the bazaar. The easy way I can think of for this is to set up a category and allow people to "buy" free waypoints to merchants with a certain amount of advertising skill. The bazaar is private and people are already interested in buying when they're at it; it's just a solid way of delivering the info.
Maybe for master they could add a little "crawl" at the top of the window.
While I think my NPC shouting in townmight help my sales, I'd probably want to hit everyone elses with a stick when I was in town listening to them, so I can't blame the devs on this one.
