Thread: From Now-Merchant to Then-Merchant
Ok, I think we can all see that the reason the Merchant isn't getting fixed is that it's likely that most of our skills will be replaced by skills relevant to player cities. I'm guessing that we'll be needed to place and operate cantinas, hospitals and other municipal buildings for a profit.
Here's my big question, though. Suppose you're a master merchant now. If they replace most of the skills in the skill tree when player cities go live, will you still be a master merchant, just with a bunch of new skills? If so, that's a good reason to get to master now. Or will they take away skills that you have and make you earn them all again? That would kind of suck if so.
Historically SoE's policy has rewarded early level-ers by making new abilities retroactive--meaning you'll wake up one morning and your char. will have new abilities. This seems only fair since they wouldn't be changing the amount of experience needed to get these abilities.
Hmm..I started out wanting to be a merchant-king like Jabba..and suddenly it looks like I'm gonna be Billy-Dee Williams...good thing I already dress the part..

Light dawns over marble head. I never really thought that might be the motivation, but duh, you're right, it's right in the movies.
I can't imagine they would ask merchants to give anything up. Given how poor the skillset is, what would be the point.? Are we in some danger of being overpowered? LOL.And really how badly could it hurt even if they did.
