You no longer get mxp just for having a vendor up?

Been out of the game most of this week with finals. I logged in and my vendor was empty. But I ran around to my harvesters and paid/collected, then started to grinding to get expert droid. All of this took a few hours, and my mxp didnt go up at all.
I made a few droids and put them on my vendor, before I /quit but I should have been getting mxp still.

I've been getting a lot of Merchant EXP from my vendor in the last two days.

Merchant xp seems to be coming in bursts. I got almost none one day, then got a big chunk the next.

I think if the vendor is in your private home then you won't see the xp any more.
