Thread: Getting ready to upgrade Vendors, any suggestions on how to transfer inventory?
As a tailor / merchant, I have 3 vendors that I have set up with over 100 items between them (I try to keep examples of at least one of every tailor item typeand multiple of popular items).
But I want to change how the inventory is stocked on them(and to change their names to be more descriptive of what is on them) but hesitate on the chore of moving 100+ items off them and then reloading back in.
Right now I am consideringjust the brute force method of selecting a vendor ... off-load all of its inventory onto the ground ... deleting the vendor ... recreating the vendor (maybe more than once in case the random NPC is ugly) ... then reloading inventory back onto the vendor ... repeat for the other two vendors
UGHH
Betweenthe sheer hassle of it and the fear of somehow invoking the inventory bug, I really would prefer some other way to do this.
Any suggestions?
I have had to move items twice, once to move houses and once to move from a dead vendor to a live one (before they stopped vendor griefing). I managed to get about half and the rest ended up poofed. It's not a fun process. Just a warning.
The worst was getting everything loaded onto one of my vendors and then having her just plain stop responding. Nothing. Glad I was at the point where that was just a time investment, but it did get my shop closed for a night.
I just moved over 500 items by hand. That means with drawing the sale, and then having to retrive each item twice in order to get it into my pack (retrieve never works the first time), and then place it on the new vendor....hours and hours of work. But if helps avoid ppl telling me the item they are looking for is not on my vendor because they dont know what the 'next item; button does, it will be well worth it

That's the way--by hand.
I've done this whole process a few times. Either because I moved house or because I'm a sucker for new things and every time i get a new "Hiring" level, I have to make a new vendor ;p
And the above poster is right... Withdraw, then retrieve, then press escape, then retrieve again, then to backpack, then to new vendor. For every.....one......of......your.......100's.......of.....items!
The bad part is it SEEMS like when you make a new vendor the old items are in the storeroom already (under the default 'regional' view). I don't know if this has been fixed, but the first time i deleted my vendor (with all the items in it), all the items showed up in the "storeroom"(regional), un-retrievable and un-selllable for a WEEK!
Then they all vanished, with no warning. Better than having them there cluttering up the space, but still probably 10k worth of merchandise.
Not very intuitive. So don't try to do it that way....
