Thread: Work arounds for resource merchants?

Are there any credible solutions or work-arounds out there for split resources and merchants trading in resources?

For all practical purposes I'm out of business as the most notable resource vendor on my planet. Having worked hard and honestly to promote my business and clientele (proudly sporting Businessman above my head), I now spend more than half of my time and energy apologizing to people, offering out of pocket exchanges, and monetary rebates knowing good and well that I would never shop again at a resource vendor until the bug with split items is repaired.

I have experimented with splitting all resources then waiting (1 hour while not moving) before posting the items on the vendor to no avail. The first customer I was aware of after this reward me by with "/say this place sucks". I have a nice screenshot of it to reward my hard work.

I eagerly await any of the forums's wisdom on this matter.

I don't consider 10,000+ cr/day in maintenance fees to be "just fine."

Sir, it's quite possible that this game is not entirely stable.

"Not entirely stable." Well, I'm glad you're here to tell us these things. Chewie! Take the professor in the back and plug him into the patch server!

I can confirm that the terminal vendors do sell resources with no problems, yes you have the increased maintenance fee but you lose a hell of a lot of customers if things keep disappearing. I pay about 3-4k a day on vendor maintenance fees on a turnover of between 30k and 50k per day with about 150k usually in stock on the vendor. I have advertising 4 so this helps in reducing the vendor fee.

Never said I liked the Terminal Vendors nor the Maint that they charge...Only that they do work.

I am gonna try this to see if this helps out any on reducing the fee I have to pay.

Have one Terminal that has 100,300 and 500 of all the minerals I sell.

And one terminal that will have only 1k chunk sizes in it.

Prob wont help but I figure its worth a try.

What I do is try to have 2-3 of each mineral I mine on my vendor and I also do a lot of selling via them coming to pick the stuff up in person that way I dont have to throw 40k of steel I just mined up on my vendor..of course this can be a big pain but till they do something about either lowering maint cost on terminals or fixing the NPC Split resources bug I dont see any other way.

NPC Vendors are Bugged as far as selling resources goes.

The Terminal Vendors will sell your split resources just fine.

I don't know what you're selling, but bot-vendors do not, at this point, seem a sustainable solution for a relatively large scale resource merchant. I have hundreds of thousands of credits worth of resources for sale.

I'm having a hard time imaging a business model that can support the bot-vendor maintenance rate even with good inventory turnover. The maintenance rates of bot-vendors clearly do not seem to indicate their intention was to be used for retailing.

This statement is true, but incomplete. Terminal droids will charge you thousands of credits a day minimum if you load up your vendor with a goodly stock of minerals. It is an absurdly expensive fee.

My current workaround for this issue is to educate my suppliers NOT to split resources before offering. Since then, we have had a 100% success rate.

Fortunately, 95% of the offers the TCON Prospector gets coem from within the PA, so this was not difficult, but I still contact anyone who offers items in suspiciously even numbers, hehe. I simply decline them and explain, in great detail, what the issue is.

One issue I've found is that many suppliers just assume that buyers want lots of 1000 or less, when this is rarely true (usually ingrained into the sellers by dealing with the price caps of the Bazaar, because buyers usually want nice healthy bloks of 5k or more).

At any rate, after the first apalling losses I incurred when I first encountered this bug, things have been going along swimmingly, and people know that they can buy with confidence from the no-split TCON Prospector.

Now, if we can just get this fixed, I will be one happy merchant.
