Thread: Merchant skill tree idea

Here is an ideea I had for improving the merchant skill tree, and make it more worth the skill points.

First off the business line of artisan needs to be improved.

  • Business 1: Access Fee's - can charge an access fee on any structure you own

  • Business 2: Premium Sale - can have a premium sale, it actually works.

  • Business 3: Reduced Bazaar fee - Bazaar fee is reduced by 20%

  • Business 4: Vendors - You get your first vendor, it is bulky, and it has a 6k limit per item and a max of 50 items.

Now at Novice merchant

  • hiring-random player character, the bartender droid, and a new terminal.

  • advertising - ad barking, the basic pre set ad barks.

  • managment - an additional vendor

The advertising tree.

  • Advertising 1: Custom ad barking - you can customise the ad barked by vendors

  • Advertising 2:Billboard- Large banner or some other visually noticiable thing placed on the _extirior_ of a shop to make it more noticable to passer-by's

  • Advertising 3: Planetary ad campaign - you can list your vendor on the planetary map.

  • Advertising 4: Spruking - You can haveone of your vendors barking in town. This vendor cannot be stocked and uses up one of your vendors.

The efficiancy tree.

  • Efficiancy 1: 5% deduction from bazaar fee's, vendor fee's, maintence fee's and travel costs.

  • Efficiancy 2: 5% deduction from bazaar fee's, vendor fee's, maintence fee's and travel costs.

  • Efficiancy 3: 5% deduction from bazaar fee's, vendor fee's, maintence fee's and travel costs.

  • Efficiancy 4: 5% deduction from bazaar fee's, vendor fee's, maintence fee's and travel costs.

The hiring tree.

  • Hiring 1: As it is now

  • Hiring 2: As it is now

  • Hiring 3: Uniforms - You can give uniforms to vendors, and they actually wear them

  • Hiring 4: Corprate Image - You can customise what your chosen vendor looks like to minor (not as complex as character creation) extent. This only works on NPC vendors, and then only on player races.

The managment tree.

  • Management 1: Additional vendor -+1 to vendors

  • Management 2: Additional vendor - +1 to vendors

  • Management 3: Shop managment - You can give people access to your vendor, they are then charged a percentage of the sale price. The fee is only deducted unpon sale. The owner of the vendor can remove an item at any time.

  • Management 4: Additional shop - +2 blocks of land

At Master Merchant

  • Management- +1 to vendors

  • Hiring - the 3p0 protocol droid like you get now, this acts as though it is an NPC vendor for barking and being in town.

  • Efficiancy - 20% deduction to vendor fee's

  • Advertising - The in townvendor can now sell items. She is limited to 25 items at a time.

Now, vendor fee's must be reduced dramatically, NPC vendors must charge the same as anyone else. The advertising thing should cost extra money, for example: the barking would increase the cost of npc vendor maintence, the billboard increases house maintence, teh vendor being in town increases cost of maintence. These extra costs eventually level out the reduced fee, but can be countered with the deductions in the efficiancy line.

Barking and planetary maps should stay working after the server goes down. Each merchant shop should its own stockroom that the vendors all use, this should be limited in space to stop people using it as infinte storage. With this set up, if i where to destroy one vendor in my house but it had stock in the stockroom, it could be accessed by another vendor in the same house.

Stop spamming me, if I cancel one of my own sales, there is no need to write me a letter about it.

The resource slider idea inwhich you can place a large amount of resources in a vendor with a unit price, then have people choose how much to buy when they purchase is a great idea and should be implemented for all _merchant_ owned vendors.

So what does everyone thing of that? Personally I think it would make all those skill points I am spending actually seem to be well spent.

Business 4: Vendors - You get your first vendor, it is bulky, and it has a 6k limit per item and a max of 50 items.

Geez, come on guys. Throw us a bone here. We get one vendor. Fine. But, 6k limit? 50 items? How punative.

Personally, I like the rest of the ideas presented. But, don't ask for the nerf of another class. Please, just stop that. It's not cool. This is supposed to fun for all. It's a game!

Ask that your class be fixed. Absolutely! I'll join in there. But, please stop asking for single personal vendors to get nerfed. We've had enough nerfs already.

WEll how about no limit on the vendor, but you get it at business 4, and you still get bazaar fee reduction at business 3? In my opinion that would make the business line stronger. Another thing that has to be considered is if thereare vendors in the business line that are uncapped, does my proposals make the merchant class strong enough to make someone want to spend the skill points to take it. The more I think about it the more I do.

Excellent stuff, really hope this can be taken on-board as Merchant is one of the proffessions which really needs a make-over. Ranger was one of them...now lets tackle the rest, the most immediatleyimportantin my opinion being- Merchant, Commando, Squad Leader andDroid Engineer.
