Greetings!
I thought I'd offer you fine folks a different kind of post. While my holocron did tell me to Master Merchant, I've taken the plunge so to speak. Anyhow, here's my story.
I was once a Pistoleer/Doc and came across a holocron that asked me to Master Merchant. No problem, I think. I already sell stims and such things, so might as well have my own shop =). So I bought a nice medium house (which I really like), set up a vendor, and started to sell wares. One weekend, the planets must have been correctly aligned as my entire inventory sold out (60+ items, most of them full crates of meds). I continued to sell meds, but it has dawned on me... what else can I sell?
Given the large amount of time needed for Merchant, I decided to investigate other crafting options. I've now mastered Architect and am working on DE. I plan to make and sell a bit of everything during my time as merchant. I figure I have 6 vendors (0204 merchant right now), I may as well put different classes of products on all of them.
Anyhow, architect is an interesting profession and I'm seeing if DE is really as bad as 'they' say. If it is I'll move on to another one (maybe tailor or chef), just to try them out. As long as I'm in merchant land, might as well be a 1 stop shop all by myself eh? =)
Anyhow, hope that brightens up the forum a bit. Seen a lot of 'I got holocron, how do I power level' posts that aren't appreciated.
Take care!

Wow, a holocron slave that actually likes the profession. ![]()
Good luck. I have found that high quality power-ups sell well.

Hehe, well I don't know about 'liking' Merchant. Talk about a profession with some serious need for... stuff =). I have yet to make a merchat tent (although I probably should).
In all honesty, I am grinding, just trying to do it in a way that allows me to try an artisan profession, do a few cools things (maybe make a few credits) then move on to the next. I don't expect to keep DE longer than making my own R2 and 3PO before I try something new =). I liked architect though, so I'll stick with that for a while.
