Thread: ok i don't normally whine as this seems such a small thing but about colored names :)....
my whole restocking system is based on being able to visually see what i have in vendors, with the colored names nerf i have to squint and look at everything, its a pain and it seems such a pointless thing to have taken away from us in the first place.
why devs? whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
geez i mean i think we all know that merchants should have this as an exclusive right anyway...
/bump
yes, this is an issue that a lot of people rely on for both advertising and sorting purposes. Interestingly, you can still use colors in building names.
It was a pleasure to use colors in the naming system and I had a system for sorting stimpacks and pets by grade with color. Most would say that color text in names does not rank as high as having mounts, but it seems every time they have a game update, they add one nice feature and nerf another. I used to be irate about these things, but I am loosing my will to care anymore and I am looking at newer games on the horizon and hoping something better comes along.
TH, please let those of us who care about this issue know whether or not it will be considered.
I was surprised when the color tags quit working. You can still type them in, and the game still recognizes them as tags as opposed to text, but they don't display.
It might not seem like a big deal to a lot of people, but why change it?
Why? Simple enough... how does the game indicate that an item has special skill modifiers on it? *It changes the color of the name.* When those modifiers weren't really working, it wasn't such a big deal, but I'll bet that with the fixes to BE mods and skill tapes they got a huge spike in scam reports.
What I'd love is for them to find a different way to indicate that something is "special"... like, say, maybe you should actually *look* at the stats ;-) But that's another story. I'm almost certain this is why they took out the feature.
Akamo, that's your right of course
For Chef's colouring foods is more than just marketing though, my foods correspond to the attributes they effect (red for health, blue for mind, green for action, just like your ham bar). I don't think anyone can deny the usefulness of such a simple scheme. It certainly makes perusing a vendor easier when all your items are "food" or "drink". Chefs already have a hard time I need every advantage I can get ![]()
Then again, I hate it when people modify the front of the item name instead of the back. "Gunman's Duster Black" is much easier to find than "Black Gunman's Duster"
I don't think it's a small change, to me it's a very big change.
I don't agree with Akamoat all. Branding is a good thing, if people by a worse product because of bad packaging, that's the reality of a free marketplace, but even that's a small issue.
I name my stims like this
StimB 350-50
(And ofcourse the same with enhance and woundpacks) Now when someone looks at my stims in his inventory, or in my vendor, or on the bazaar, my stims A) are branded, but B) more importantly convey real information to the buyer.
To the merchant correspondent, please consider adding this to the list of issues for merchants ?
Or alteast ask the Devs to explains the reasons for the change, not that it didn't appear (or maybe I missed it) in the patch notes.
We beg and beg for things to get fixed now do we have to beg to have things that worked great returned, I don't get it if DEVs are soooo busy thattheycan't fix broken things how can they find the time to remove the little things we find to make life a little easier. I for one use \#colors\ on furniture I match the color and give it a name that fits my customer needs. I just don't get it.

First the dev shoots himself in the foot bad...now he shoots me in the foot...well at least he has good aim
One of the things that made this game fun is gone, I would just like to know why.......
