Thread: the game says I can't see the object...

but I can!

Here's my sad story for the day... I just plopped down this pretty little vendor in front of a gorgeous new fountain, and when i try to initiialize, display status, pay maintenance, remove, or do anything under the "Vendor Control" menu, I get the message "you can't see the object". Needless to say, this is extremely frustrating.

Can anyone tell me if there is a slash command for removing the vendor? That's the only solution I can think of at this point.

Thanks in advance for any help....

Sounds like the vendor is partially overlapping another object. Target the vendor and use the /move forward x or /move back x (where x = the number of units to move) to get the vendor away from the other object

(this actually happens with any object you drop on the floor, not just vendors)

I don't believe you can move vendors like that any more even prior to initialization. I think you can pick them up still though. Target it and type /pickup and see if that works. Other than that I don't know a command to remove it..maybe someone else does. You might try shifting the fountain slighly to see if that clears up the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply Doc. I will try it as soon as the game lets me in (currently stuck in the "the connection to the login server is now open" screen).

I never tried picking up a vendor with the /pickup command. I do know that whenever I try to pickup an uninitialized vendor through the radial menu, I get an error message telling me I have no authority to move the vendor or something to that effect. It doesn't matter that I own the vendor, the house it's standing in and the very air that it breathes. So I'm anticipating the same kind of problem when I try the /pickup command.

Will keep you posted....

Yea vendors are touchy about being jostled around after they are placed. It used to be that you could move them around and such before they initialized. This must have caused some issue however as they now can't be moved at all. You could then pick them up and put them back down. This functionality did exist at one time, but that may have been removed as well. The latest change is that they no longer have the rotate commands after they are placed. This of course makes no sense to those of us who have a vendor with adbarking since the blasted NPC's always face the wall. *sigh*

Say it ain't so!

As of last night I was still able to rotate my vendor. Is this something that's on Test Center now or being installed as we speak? I hope that the "fix" will also apply to the vendor itself. Meaning that it won't be allowed to "rotate" itself to face the wall whenever it detects a customer on the other side.

Talk about hardsell! hehe

No this is on live. They still rotate themselves and right now you can still rotate them back with the /rotate command. The radial menu however no longer displays the rotate command after initialization. (I had a vendor that had a rotate menu command but it vanished after I used it one time)

I don't know why the rotate is a problem but it was big enough to warrent mention in the patch notes for the last publish.
