Thread: Vendor won't initialize... anyone got an answer?
Ok, I'm at my wits end. I'm so frickin sick of all the god darn bugs in this frickin game. I'm not even a merchant yet and I can already tell I hate it. Ijust spent a flippin hour trying to set up a vendor. Not happening. The darn thing won't initialize. I hit the initialize button, everyone else can access it, but not me. So I can't put anything on the vendor. I keep getting the "vendor not initialized" message. I've gone through 20 vendors already and same darn result.
Anyone know a way around this stupid thing?

Try not to move or rotate your vendor before you initialize it. Just plob it down and initialize. Worked for me, although facing the wrong way...oh well.
As far as I can tell you can still rotate your vendor with the /rotate commands. Why they want to restrict that ablity is beyond me.
Are you saying you can still potate it after it is initialized?

Yep, if you have macros already made for moving things around in your house. Only rotate still works, the move forward/back commands don't. Once the vendor is initialized you can still use
/rotate left <# of degrees> or
/rotate right <# of degrees>
On that note, and back to the point of the thread..I'm also having this problem with two new vendors I've placed in the house. After having paid maitenance and making sure the vendor isn't overlapping any objects I'm still unable to use them. I've "Initialized" the vendor from the radial menu to the point that status show operating normally but I still can't open them up to add items.
I ran into extensive problems with terminal vendors this evening, all giving this "Vendor has not been initilized" message.
Master Merchant, happened on Tatooine, Naboo, Corellia and Talus. Guild halls, large houses and medium houses. Given the pre-patch costs,I had never tried the advancedtypes of terminals before.
Unable to place a Terminal - Slim or Terminal - Fancy, using any name, rotating or not rotating prior to init, paying maintenance or not prior to init, in any place in the house. I created over 80 vendors trying different patterns, looking for some logic or trick. No tactics of camping / leaving building / relogging help. I even placed an empty house on Talus just for this test, and the results were the same.
In all 4places Ican place NPCs without problem, and Terminal - Standard works fine too.
Terminal - Small usually gives the same error, but on Tatooine and Talus I was able to get the Small Terminals to work after a failure by first creating another vendor (Standard Terminal or NPC) and then retrying the Small Terminal.
Leaving one up on Naboo till morningto see if it clears with the "daily server incapacitaion".
To me, thisseems like the old factory bug. Everybody had their own hoops / voodoo and magic tricks they thought made it work, when in reality it was just bugged programming. Sure would be nice to clear this one up, though we can use the other, working, vendors the skills offer to get around it for now.
Bulky artisan vendor placed by a weaponsmith inside her merchant tent in our player city. Initialized and stocked. Few minutes later the vendor had moved to the other side of the tent. And was now giving the initialized error.
9 LLCs eaten by this bug. And of course there is absolutely nothing to be done about it. Getting a CSR would take days, and a weaponsmith without a vendor on a weekend is out of business. Once upon a time CSRs in chat could occasionally sneak into a server late at night to assist with game-stopping issues like this. Not anymore, they say - GREAT RULE CHANGE. People were occasionally being helped... can't have that, now can we?

Add me to the list. I've now tried placing three protocol droids, they all give the "this vendor is not initialized" when I try to "use vendor"
I was especially disappoitned because the protocol droid was going to carry my wookiee clothing and I had the vendor next to him say,
"Please forgive my metal friend's silence. He hasn't spoken a word since a wookiee customer threatened to rip his arms off."
Oh well
On that note, protocol droids still don't ad bark. How sad that perhaps the only master merchant perk, the one measly protocol droid, is broken, for me anyway.
So it's not just advanced terminals, eh?
Morning server nap did not initilize my malfunctioning terminal vendors from last night.
The first Slim Terminal vendor I tried to place this morning (Corellia) worked perfect, and it's up and selling. Then next 25 terminals I tried (Slim, Small &Fancy)failed to initilize. Every NPC vendor I triedinitilized fine, every time.
A thread in the Artisan forum mentioned that if you keep trying to placebulk vendors20+ times, you eventually get one that works. I have not had that luck yet with the advanced terminals.
Will try the protocol droid vendor later today to verify Kwee's problem.
Keep this bumped for DocSavag's attention so he can be aware of the exact nature of the problem and our diagnostic efforts and pass it on. Any other merchant's experiences today (vendors initilizingok or not initilizing) would be helpful and might help show a pattern that would help the devs.
I just can not find a pattern in this. I decided to replace all my vendors that are for xp only with the standard, terminal ones. So.. one at a time.. no go, 10 trys. Six at one time, the first 3 worked and the last one worked, the two chosen between did not. I destoyed them and triedagain one at a time. The first time, I hit spot on, the second/last one at this time, well... I'm still trying on that one.
This has really got to be fixed!! We are not earning xp as we should, as it is.To not be able to drop all vendors is making this an even slower and more painful process.
LOL I love that bark Kwee.
I ran into this problem this morning as well with a surgical droid. I initialized and paid maintenance but couldn't open him. I ended up canning him and going back to my Twedab merchant.
FYI, on the rotate, don't bother with trying to get it too much exact, the vendor ends up rotating on his/her/its own for certain customers.
