If you give up Efficiency IV after placing a merchant tent.....what happens?

You only need Efficiency IV to place the tent, not maintain it.

Isn't it true that you can't transferstructure a tent to someone without Efficiency IV?

I haven't tried that yet. Good test though, will try to figure that out tonight. You can certainly add others to the admin list though.

Yes anyone can be admin on the tent. That is true. I read somewhere that you couldn't transfer it to someone without the skill. The point of that being if you can't transfer it to aplayer without Eff IV then you aren't supposed to be the owner of a merchant tent without Eff IV.

Apparently, there IS a check on whether the person the tent is being transferred to has Efficiency IV. Sorry folks

Yeah, but there arealso vendors, where you get to keep the benefits of a dropped skill. This supports SOE's apparent vision of Merchant as a "throw-away" profession that you keep only long enough to get what you want in place.

Interestingly I am discovering that Architect is another good throw-away profession. I can build an inventory of harvesters and buildings for sale (or use) later. There are no customizable factors (color, HAM vs protection tradeoff, speed vs damage, selection of components, etc.) that make build to suit important.Only a few of the city items have significant custom aspects, like the names on statues that make customization worthwhile.

Medic has some aspects of throw-away, I am building an inventory of Stim B's for when I get down to novice. But you do need to keep at least novice to get any benefit of the profession.

Weaponsmith is close to throw-away, but repairs and really special items built from drops make the skill continue to be worthwhile.

Scout, on the contrary,is definitely not, due to the inability to use camps you cannot build. Their correspondent pushed hard to get that feature, as it used to be possible to use even ranger camps as novice scout.

Anyone know of any others?

All of those are bad examples. Houses, Harvesters, Weapons, Stims are all consumables that are made by the crafter for sale to others without the ability to craft them (meds being a grey area but you can use items that you don't yet have the ability to craft)

Vendors are not items you make. They are built by the system and you are granted the power to control and place them. You can't trade them. You can't transfer them. They are linked to only the merchant who created them. Giving up the rights to your merchant skills should have an effect simular to the effect on a scout who gives up novice scout and can no longer use the camp he made 2 minutes before he gave up the skill. (You lack the ability to use this item)

From everything I've seen this issue is present due to a lack of time and resources to fix it and not a conscious effort to keep it the way it is. I think there is a certain lack of concern about it that is unfounded because I believe it is a serious issue for merchants, but I don't think it is the way it is supposed to be.
