Thread: New Civic Building for Merchants
As Mayor of a city, and doing the merchant/crafter thing with a second character, it occurred to me that an ideal civic structure would be an Open Air Market/Plaza/Open Bazaar.
This would be a large civic structure, easily taking up the footprint of a guildhall/cityhall,that could be placed in the center of the market. It would simply be a flat open tiled space (anyone remember the little plaza like things insim city?)and allow anyone on a "Merchant List" to place a vendor on the plaza.
The vendors would be out in the open, easily visible and it would centerpiece a market area nicely. Maybe they could be like the other city decorations where the architectcould have adrop down listto change the look of the plaza. Maybe you could havedifferent fountains or something in the center of the area.
Anyone else like this idea?

I'd like to see a public market or mall, but they won't be able to make it open air. Vendors have to load in with an interior zone.
Yeah it wouldn't be true 'open air' as in, you'd have to walk onto the platform to have these things load. But I'm sure they can do that...look at how well they do the open voids inside houses.
The plaza would appear from the outside to be a tiled area, you walk onto it and all the things load. That'd be pretty cool.
