I have a question. Right now I know masters can set up many vendors and do so now for diff types of vendors such as in player city. The master will set up diff vendors and then handle the money xchange and such with the players that provide the inventory. Will there be a change where the master can give admin rights to the player that is using that vendor and stocking it....where as the player that is using the vendor could stock, get offers, and retrieve stock from the vendor himself w/o waiting for the master to sign on or make sure the master is givign the right amount of money and so on.

I know they currently don't do this, but i think it would be good change. Maybe only allow that freedom to the masters, but i think it would open up trade even more and give more benifits to to the masters. They could even charge a useage fee on the vendor, much like city tax works now.

Yes, I think it should be up the master to decide consignment or what have you. But i do think they should have the option at least. Then they can decide what they want to do. And if we institute a 'tax' on the vendors then the vendors will make money off each sale anyways and don't have to worry about each and every vendor. Or, they could even just make the vendor and have deal with the user on per week amount or jsut let user use it straight up....but leave the decision to the master.

I would LOVE this ! I spend about an hour and a half each day handling vendors that I have set up for others. Stock in, money out, emails to show sales to people selling stock. And I don't even take a cut. Gah, see what being nice gets you?

Here is the thing. From my perspective the merchant needs to be involved in the sale.. if he isn't involved at all why is he getting a cut? But..the current offer system is totally inadequate to handle a serious consignment scenario. So the question becomes how do you design a consignment system that keeps the merchant involved in the transaction because he is the merchant..but empowers the supplier and merchant to form a good business relationship.

They would get cut because of the use of their vendor. that alone warrents a cut. It like when you rent store front space. You pay rent jsut for the use of that space. Make sense?

Maybe. Its just one step away from us being given rights to sell vendors to non merchants which I am against. Seems to me that our profession should be more than just a skill point sink to facilitate other people using vendors. I want better tools to make business relationships but I don't want to dilute the merchant skills by giving access to the vendors to people without the skills to run them.

I think we should fight for tools that will make it easier for us to make those relationships but not necessarily changes that will make the merchant a minor player in the sale. Am I making sense here?

Yes, i totally get what you are saying. I just think the 'option' to let other users have admin rights to vendors would be a good step....for those that want it. Alot of masters i know spend a lot of time tracking down diff vendors, sending out money and dealing with ppl. This would def help those that want it. And might even help turn a little more profit for u since it would make the process easier. I know plenty of docs and others that don't go through vendors dealers because they jsut don't want to have to deal with the middle man of getting stock to u, u place it on there, u pay them the money owed and any items offered to them. this way they would know whan stuff sold, keep vendor more updated and hopefully in the end make u both a nice profit.
