I have no idea where to start or what to do, but I want to give it a shot. I don't even have novice artisan yet, so any advice from there on up would be great! Please help! Thanks in advance for any replies.

well i got merchant for my holo about 1 1/2 weeks ago. after 24/7 grinding im 0-0-0-4 lol. merchant takes about 3 weeks. go to artisan and craft carbines. once u get businesss 3 put a vendor in your house. then get business 4. for every hour that ur vendor is up you get 150 exp. you only get exp if the vendor is spawned and to spawn a vendor someone needs to be near it. Now considering that your grinding due to the holo your not some big time wep, armor smith so no one will be near ur vendors. so now you must go afk for 24 hours a day to get exp

there is no other way to get exp either then having someone check ur vendor 15 min cap and u get 50xp or have someone pay an access fee to enter the house which is another 50 xp. my tip: go up the management line in merchant so u can end up with 6 vendors, make amacro that has unlimited stand so you dont go Ld and be ready to save some money on the side to pay ur new and almost doubled electric bill. have fun cuz im not having fun for **edit**

macro to grind surveying tools, then macro to grind wind generators(expensive, but you'll be bus4 in 1 hour). Then pop up vendors, and go fishing for 3 weeks(in game or out) hehe...

Do you get 150 XP per player that is near your vendor or 150 XP max per hour? Thanks!

150xp per hour per vendor, don't matter who is around(well, there is a bug, don't know if it's resolved, your vendor has to be "alive" in the world, which means someone has to be in your house).

For master merchant there is a simple macro you can run.....

1) place a vendor or two in your house

2) charge 1 creidt entry fee and make a sign that says Master <insert profession here>

3) then set up a macro that says....

/insert thumb in @SS

4) Go AFK for 1 month

This will not only be a great month of playing SWG but you will also piss off every customer who paid the 1 credit to get in your house to look at your empty non-master crafted items

To get the 150xp/vendor-hr you don't actually need to be there all the time. If you stop by the shop hourly, you'll get the xp. So you can hunt around the shop and run in after every few missions. It's not quite as reliable as being there all the time, but it's a lot more fun.

If you actually sell some stuff too, you may be able to do it faster since people may come back and visit. If you put a 1cr fee on the door and nothing is inside nobody will ever check back. It's personal preference though and not a huge difference in xp.

Another thing that can help is placing the houses in a player city and telling all the people who idle there to check you're house every 15 minutes. Offer them something for the help. We have people grinding survival xp by the city, I idle in their camps (craft/survey/etc) and they run 100m every couple camps and check the vendors. We both win.
