MERCHANTS are getting killed with this stupid new chat system. It's almost good enough that the only reason to ever have vendors is to grind for the profession towards Jedi.
The point of barker droids???? down the toilet.............
Vendors??? moving there fast too..........
I don't do much vendoring, but I have already seen a direct corellation to the onset of the new channels. I like this game because it is NOT like battle.net.........though we are fast approaching that.
About lightspeed???? Possibly people don't give a crap is why they are not clamoring to get into the beta? I would rather see the game we have with the bugs fixed and leave the play alone before I care about "jumping" anywhere.

I see no impact to the new auction channel. It has not effected my businessor my vendors at all.

Huh? This is the 2nd thread on this and I must be doing something wrong because I haven't seen ANY impact to my sales with the new channels. In fact, the new channels are quickly degrading to sophmoric chat channels and I'm just waiting for someone start typing "a/s/l" - it's getting pretty pathetic.
Sorry, but I don't see your point at all.

It's a couple of chat channels.. The only thing I don't like about them is that they could have spent the time fixing bugs instead of adding them into the game, although I doubt they took that long to implement as the back bone of the whole system has been there for as long as I can remember..
Just no-one really set up different chat channels, I did and it drew in a few people..
All in all a thumbs up for upping the level of communication in the game and a big thumbs down for not taking that time and putting it to better use..
I'm on the fence, falling off both ways..

Like i said on another thread like this, from my experience so far the new channel hasn't made diddly squat of a difference. In fact, i've made more money as i can now advertise my shops and what i sell to a wider 'audiance'
For example, i always keep an eye on the channel and if i see someone asking where they can get a swoop i just point them in the direction of my shop and say that vehicles are available there. Bingo! A few mins later i getthe automatedmail saying so and so has just purchesed a swoop.
Same goes for resources i deal in also, every now and then i advertise that i can supply bulk resources, then i get an order etc.
Now them players would have never known i sell vehicles and resources, unless they knew me or seen mydroid barking my ad away.
This proves to me that the auction channel has been a good addition. Has anyone gota story which showsthe channel is a bad thing for there business? As i'd like to here it.

nope no impact to sales at all.. If anything i saw once or twice someone recomending MY shop and i had no clue who they are..
Then again since day one ive been a well know merchant and always made my own means to get my name out there.

With the possible exception of rare loot items I can't imagine many people have lost business over this channel. For regular items people are still going to point someone to a vendor and not hand deliver the item.
The one exception I can think of is someone asks in the auction channel for x item. Merchant A replies with their waypoint. If the channel wasn't there, the person would have looked on the global map and bought it from Merchant B.

I like the auction channel. Just like the guy above me said.
All I have to do is monitor it and when someone says "where can i buy BH droids?" I pop on and give my waypoint. I find that people like to use the auction channel to avoid empty vendors on the global map.

well why not make sugestions on what to do instead of racking down the things devs do.
I have some ide's id like to test on u all.
1. Make a mall in the big StarPort cities and make it possible for merchant masters to lease space for a vendor there, if a vendor dont have a sale in one week it will be removed and offcource if the rent isnt paid.
2. Ban all trail accounts barking outside SP's, they only help cause lagg and is an annoyance for all trying to do something else than finding a vendor that sells jedi quality gems, or something like that. Instead make a billboard with addvertisement space to rent, again only to merchants of some level.
3. Make the merchant profession count for something, like more items than 25 on the bazaar system, or beeing able to charge more than 6k on them.
4. Remove all vendors that havent sold anything in a week from the map list. as it is im traveling to 30 empty vendors before finding what they all said they were selling.
5. Make it possible to fill up the bazaar on other planets for a fee, something like UPS, again only to merchants level x.
6. add a high (like 10%) sales tax(subtracted on the profit, not added to the prise)on all vendors lokated outside a city, on some planets u cant go anywhere without bumping in on houses only placed in the middle of nowhere for vendor purpose. move them back to the cities and help em pay the cost of running a city.
