as topic says empty vendors should be allowed to do anything..not bark not register nothing... to many people put up max vendors with false barking to do nothing but lure customers to get them xp... effectively maybe cuasinf frustation and loss of potential customer to another vendor. also it gets really hold following that wp on a map to just reach an empty vendor

well after hours of searching for properly maintained vendors, i realised the best way to find reliable stores and merchants is to look at the store title, if the title of the vendor doesnt have a business-like feel to the name i dont even bother.

but other than that, i feel your pain, i wish it was possible to attack vendor npc's if they are empty.

Publish 9 was supposed to include a fix that made empty vendors disapear from the map- didn't make it in though. I suspect it'll be coming soon.

The current schedule has that listed at 9.2 (I think it always was but I'd have to check and that requires more effort than its worth). We'll know for sure when it goes to TestCenter. I"ll see if I can get a quote about that for you this week.

I still find that people go by word of mouth (or /tells) for finding vendors. I've even said, its on the planet map but they still want me to email them waypoints.

I've been making quite the living for myself buying & selling crystals. I hunt them myself, buy from people all over the place, and have my Jedi appraise them all.

I'll put them up on my vendor (at this point just a vending-machine type) at very competitive prices and usually sell 4-5 million credits worth in a few hours or less. I did this four times in two weeks and now I'm getting tells once or twice a day from people looking for more crystals.

I assume this goes for most in-demand goods, but I think you're right...word of mouth is quite important.

Taking the empty vendors off the map isn't going to be the savior we have all been hoping for. People will just put something like a backpack on their vendor for 1,000,000 credits that nobody will ever buy so that the vendor will not go off the map. I believe that *most* of the empty vendors on the map are vendors that belong to people who worked up merchant, got their vendor, registered it on the map and then dropped all of the merchant skills but still keep their vendor. If they take that vendor off the map they cannot reregister it unless they work up their skill again so they will make DARN sure that they keep an item on the vendor that nobody will buy so that their vendor never falls off the map registry.

The main problem is the exploit of keeping vendors with all the perks after the merchant skills are dropped. Once that is fixed, probably 95% of the empty vendors will disappear from the map.

It really does suck to go chasing down a vendor only to find out that its empty....But its like that in real life too sometimes (just less often) where an item you are looking for is no longer in stock at a store. The difference being that you never come across a store in RL that is completely wiped out of everything. I've come across several vendors in-game that I used to purchase from but that are now empty. I've talked to a couple of the people who have those "empty" vendors and they said they were taking a break from the game until Jump To Lightspeed was released. So pretty much their vendor had inventory on it when they left, but the items eaither sold out or expired and they just have not been back to update it. If update 9.2 does not include something to fix empty vendors on the planetary map, I wouldn't be surprised to see a few vendors come back to life once JTL comes out. I can deal with those people...I just hate the people that set up vendors for grinding purposes and never take them down.

I disagree. I think the majority of empty vendors are owned by merchants who don't play any more or who havent' bothered to go to there vendors in weeks. It WILL help. It won't stop empty vendors completely but it will remove inactive vendors from the map. Fixing the skill point issue is important as well but this will help reduce the numbers.

How about on the planetary map, as you hover overeach individual vendor on the list it displays 'currently stocking xx items' or something along those lines?

Originally, I heard that the merchant droids were going to have an option that allowed people to view what was on your vendor through the droid. So you could set up your droid in a city, have it bark and someone could run over to see what you had for sale before running out to your shop. Of course, we all know that didn't happen. It would be very very cool though!

How about removing ALL vendors from the map, empty or not, as a onetime cleanup before patch 9.2.

That wouldn't really be fair to the people that don't play every day.

Their vendor would be un-registered and they'd have no way to fix it until they happened to log back in.
