After coming here looking for answers about a vendor problem I'm having, I discovered something interesting... I don't want to be a merchant!!!! Not because it's not a very Noble Profession, but because I would rather be crafting than selling!

I after reaching Master Artisan, I just assumed I'd have to take on the Merchant Profession if I was every going to hope to sell my products. But to tell you the truth, I would rather be in my LEITECH Proto-Technology Center (Okay.... my house where I experiment on my proto-types) perfecting my products, then traveling the galaxy looking for buyers. I would rather pay someone else to do that!!!

My vision was to produce high quality weapons, beautiful clothing, and maybe dabble in some armoursmithing. I'd really like to be able to turn in my business skill credits to use somewhere else.

The point of this thread though is I had read somewhere in these post that there was a suggestion to take the vendors out of business IV. This is just a thought, on why I hope that doesn't happen. As a Master Artisan who wants to be the best in the crafting field, I'd gladly turn to a skilled Merchant to purchase my goods and resonable prices vs. me trying to peddle my own wares. But I would like to have the basic vendor still available to me as a Master Artisan, so that I can fill it with my Products, maybe even add some of my overstock of resources for sale, but limit these sales to a few merchants who would I would add to my house entry list. The merchant could come to view my available products even when I'm off line, the benefit to the merchant is that the product is avaiable for purchase at their convience, when they happen to be in town, etc. The other benefit to the smart merchant would be.... see a product you think one of your contacts, or another customer would be interested in, you can give them a /tell or e-mail, secure a garanteed sale before, actually purchasing from the artisans vendor. The benefit to me as an artist, my products are there, personally I believe that they will be in high demand, because LEITECH Industries will have made a name for itself as being High Quality worth Top dollar (or should I say Credits) The biggest advantage to me as an artisan is .... I can do what I really want to do create high quality products.... and leave the selling to someone else.

I wish there were more master artisans thinking the way you do...we are still most of the time regarded as crafters pimps as the best ones cant keep up with demand.

I hear you... and have rethought my position.

I would like some changes, but they do not remove the vendor from the buss line. I would just like to see some limits set, so that there is a reason to move into the merchant line.

I will work with the Art-persons correspondant to see her thoughts.
