I was thinking about using a new marketing tool. Filling bags with bone armor, some stim b's, better quality cdef's and the like and selling them on the bazaar for cheap with items inside named with the waypoint of my shop. Does anyone know if you can sell bags that have items inside?

You can, but it would be easier to sell the items and then email the purchaser your store waypoint.

Yes, many of us do it all the time.

This is particularly helped by the fact that you can rename a backpack in your inventory.

My technique: I take a backpack in inventory, and rename it after the customer. I then load it up with their items, and put it on the vendor at the agreed-upon price. Few people will take a chance on a 30 or 150 thousand credit bag that might not have anything of interest to them. I ask my customers to offer the bag back to the vendor at one credit after removing their items.

Well I guess if you used premium auctions and color names they might find it. The hard part is that it will be listed under misc with all the other 100s of stuff.

I put special orders in bags all the time..but yes, if you are selling a noob outfit or a set of something, having the bag fall into the Wearable Container category would be a problem on the bazaar. If you have a NPC vendor tho, have it bark "Check out my ready made wardrobes! Look under "Wearable Container" for more information"

a word of caution with this...I used to sell meal bags with stacks of food/drink in them. There was a patch at one point that made all items vanish out of bags on vendors and the bazaar. I lost about 150k of food. The bags still showed 10/20 items but when you removed the bags from the vendor they were empty. Customers bought them and they were empty... When I submitted a ticket, I was told that this was intentional because of the amount of people that had been scamming by selling items in bags and not being honest about what was inside of them. I have noticed that it is working again but that was a very painful experience that I wouldnt want to repeat. So I would urge you to use caution with this and not but super expensive stuff in bags. I did finally get a credit reimbursement for the value of the resources that were used to make the items in the bags but it took close to a month and many tickets to get it. The thing that was most disturbing about this patch that happened was there was no warning given so people could get items out. It was not mentioned in the patch notes either. The only way I found out was because a customer complained to me that I sold him an empty backpack.

Yes, I remember when that happened, a lot of people were quite upset about it.

I had not at that time ever sold anything in a backpack, and when it was taken out, it didn't really hurt me... yet.

It was not long after that that it went back in, though, and I believe it's got official blessing, as there WAS a patch note about fixing it to work the way it does now.

oooh! anyone else recall this having blessings? It would be nice to be able to do this again, tho its not as important to me now as it was then since food can be made in crates now

There was no patch to take this out. It was bugged for a while by some change and eventually they fixed it after telling us not to do it while it was bugged.

Even during the patch it wasn't a failure all of the time. I had people sell me things in backpacks during the time it was broke and I never personally had any items go missing. Others did, it just wasn't a 100% thing one way or the other.

YES, I used to make Starter Packs (don't call em noobs, they might not like that) all the time when I was starting out and trying to get through Artisan.

I would make a whole suit of bone armor, very good bone armor, label it Full Set Durable Bone Armor (experimented durability) and putthem on the bazaar for 3K with a full description of what was included.

It seemed people started picking up on packs and looking for them.I sold a few. Not very much. But it was XP and creds. So I took what I could get.

Then dropped them to 2K to sell them. And still only made a few sales.

You want to hear something funny?

One day I got a hair up my arse and decided to have fun making all the stuff I'd never made before - stupid stuff like chance cubes, fishing poles and bait, full set of fireworks, repair tools, foraged food, set of CDEF weapons and melee weapons, all kinds of stupid stuff I'd made and weapons I'd looted, plus the bone armor set.

Common resources were plentiful and I just had fun making and playing with stuff I'd never actually seen in the game before. A little variety, and a goal to work towards, kept me sane while grinding.

I made up clever descriptionslisting all the stuff in the packs, positioningthe items as 'fun'and pointed out "AND you get the pack too".

I tried putting these up on the bazaar for 3K and sold them out every time!

People wouldn't pay 2K for a good set of armor, but they would pay 3K for a bag full of armor and junk.

I think alot of people may have bought them just because of 1 or 2 items in the pack, like they wanted a fishing pole or fireworks to play with, and they got all this other stuff too.

One of the funniest things I've ever seen as a pre-merchant - can't sell a 'real' item for 2K, but fill it with a bunch of junk and raise the price to 3K.....

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."

i keep hearing that this is working again but someone told me that they dont retain the items after the server reset.

he said that you can put a bag full of items on the vendor/bazaar and if the person buys it before the servers go down again its fine, other wise its empty

is this right? i would love to use bags for customer orders but the items i sell are generally worth to much to chance loosing them. (orders of 5-15 harvesters, or 20 houses, or pa hall + furniture).

i'd hate to put a 1.5 mil order of harvesters in a bag for someone and have it dissapear if they dont get there till the next day.

I buy and sell in packs all the time ( about 2-3 mill credits of stuff each day) and never have had a problem except 2 times with items vanishing - an order of food and an order of armor. However even this bug was fixable- if you place any pack that has missing items in a house, when server resets all itemswill 'magically' be there in the bag - even the food from that food bug. Problem is most people dont know this fix, so just angrily disposed of the bag with all the invisible contents in it
