Ok a holocron told me to Master Merchant. I wasn't an Artisan at all, a friend let me use a vendor of his for selling my wares.

I have noticed something odd though and want to see what others think. When I craft as a BE like making pets to sell, templates and other BE stuff I have noticed that my Merchant XP increases. I have made sure I am at my house, vendors in sight no one has bought anything or entered my homes so the XP didn't come from these things. Anyone else notice as you are doing crafting in your elite profession that your merchant xp goes up seemingly at random intervals and amounts?

I am grind some general XP now to try out Chef a little bit, general crafting XP hasn't moved my Merchant XP at all. This is another thing that has me thinking you get Merchant XP for crafting as your elite class.

Well anyways, anyone else confirm that their Merchant XP increases as they are crafting?

You get 150xp/hour/vendor.
Maybe that's the xp you're getting.

Is the vendor that is selling your wares in your house or a house that belongs to someone else? Is there an entry fee on any home that you are the owner of?

Does the vendor have to be in a house you own to generate 150xp/hour?

You should be able to have it anyones house.

No. But the entry fee xp is given to the owner of the house. I don't know for sure about the per use xp as I've never tested it in someone else's house.

I have three vendor in my house, placed on the following skills, Novice merchant, Management I and Management II.
And the I have one at another owners house placed at Management II.

Today I noticed I got only 300 xp per hour from all four.

I tried to destroy the oldest one that was in my house and replaced it with a new vendor (Management II skill).
And now I got 450 xp/hour.

Then I replaced the other old vendor.
And now I get 600 xp/hour!

So it may seem that when you go up a new level of Management you don't get the xp from older vendors.

And I do get xp when someone use the vendor in another house.
And it seems you can get xp from each vendor every 10 minutes, limited to one time per 10 min per person.

This has not been my experience. I am getting my regular xp for my 6 vendors on a new merchant character even though I haven't deleted and replaced any of those along the way. Could be a random thing I dont' know but it isn't happening all the time.

After more messing around its just the 150xp/hour from vendors thing I was getting. I just happened to be getting mine at staggered times from each other. Like 5-10 minutes apart on several of them so it looked like I was getting XP for crafting, heh.

those holocrons..evil things, i'm also having to master merchant. thankfully, i was a bit of a business person before, and i have a bit of leftover xp. but what i'd like to know is, do i have to be online to get vendor xp? and if people buy something off my vendor, do i get xp in proportion with its cost?

You don't have to be online to get merchant xp.

You don't get xp for sales.

150xp per hour per vendor (when its working)

50xp when someone accesses your vendor (there are anti grinding timers to avoid the same person accessing it over and over)

50xp when someone pays a fee to enter a structure you own.
