Im a holo-junky but ive found a new respect for merchant, i got merchant on my 2nd holo, and i got good xp the first day, then jack sh!t the rest of the time, i submitted a ticket, and nothing.

I went into gen. chat today, and the csr said the merchant xp was working fine.. i about canceled my acct. anyway we need to send a message to the devs saying we arent going to take this lack of xp.

I've lost over 10k merchant xp, and come to find out they dont even know about this bug, BS i say!

10k is alot for a nov merchant, currently im at 0001.9 and with the 10k xp missing, im very very disappointed in SOE's ability to fix what they broke.

How did you lose XP if you never had it? But to answer your question to the best of my knowledge. This si what I have experimented on so far.

Now, you only get XP by:

1. Having someone look at your vendor. You do get XP but it is not a lot, so if you put your character on a macro to look at your vendor all day, don't expect any more than a couple thousand.

2. Selling goods on the vendors and the bazaar.

3. Setting access fees on the house. Every time someone new enters your house within 24 hours I believe, you get XP. Again, it is not much, and will upset the random player. No one likes to pay a cover charge just to browse a store.

To answer your question, there is no GOOD way to grind through Merchant. They took that out. Most real Merchants were getting upset at non-Merchants sticking 3 Vendors in their house and mastering Merchant in a week. My advice is just to enjoy the class and work your way through it. Meanwhile keep working on other things. Merchant is a passive class. It's not about goingout and killing things or crafting things tolevel faster. You just have to go with the flow and wait.

You do not get xp for selling items on a vendor or the bazaar.

The 3 ways to get xp are....

1) access fee

2) someone viewing your vendor

3) 150xp per hour per vendor being up (this is the bugged one, can go a while without getting xp then all the sudden a huge lump sum pops up)

Well I was told that with the new patch they removed the "vendor being up" XP because people were sticking Vendors up and leaving them and breezing through the profession with little work on their end.

And I tested the "selling stuff" idea. And yes, I seem to get XP after selling stuff. I've had people buy stuff off my vendor and watch my XP, and it seems to go up when they buy something 1 XP/2 credits. Maybe it's a bug, or maybe just coincidence every time I sell something. But it's there.

Really? The new patch as in todays patch? Yesterday I was still getting the xp while the vendor is up.

That kind of sucks if they did get rid of it. But then if I get xp when items sell I guess that is ok then.

lol. you have one long road ahead of you. I got merchant for my first holo. Honestly, the best tip I can give you is to get things people want to buy. Go make friends with a doctor and get some stim b's up there asap. Also, get some crates of ryshcate and fishak. I used to wait and depend on the hourly, but now I get more business from the browses, and my vendors stay loaded in the world. You wont notice xp going steady untill you get management 4. I just got advert 4 last night, putting me at 4/4/0/4. Also, go up Efficiency next, for the merchant tents.
