Thread: Do you have to be on the same planet as your vendors to get hourly xp from them?
what gives?
SOE... OMFG you have got to be kidding me.
My vendor is located in my house.
I've been decorating the city hall and planting houses thoughout our town, not once in the past....8hrs have I been near my house, let alone in it. And I've gotten XP for the vendor - now if only the damned thing would initialize

The issue seems not that YOU have to be in your house or even online but that SOMEONE has to be around to force your vendors to load or they don't give you xp. This is being brought up to the dev team. I'll let you know when they respond to it.

Thanks
The way the system works now its a little unfair to merchants who aren’t booming with business like myself. For that matter what novice merchant does have booming business?!
With only Business 3 - my vendor limit is 1.
Does that mean i can only place 1 vendor(fullstop) or 1 vendor/per house ?
Thanks.
Have been having exp problems for the last few days. Was watching it closely earlier today and found something strange. I don't get vendor exp per hour (I was logged in, in the same room as my vendors, with a macro keeping me online for 6+ hours and didn't get one point). I do get vendor browsing exp to the tune of 50 points per person, but only once per person per every few hours. I do get experience when a person BUYS something (approx 500 points), but it seems it's either only the first purchase per player only, or the first purchase per player per day.
The REALLY strange thing is I got the purchase experience (500 points) for withdrawing a sale from my vendor. I paid very close attention to my experience window (skills screen) and it updated the moment I unlisted the item. So for me at least I get exp when someone browses my vendor and when an item is removed from sale status, once per person.

I think that 500xp you are getting is in fact the hourly xp from the vendors. It has never came steady for me, it always comes in clumps of 500 or 1000. The only xp I see that I get when it happens, are access fees to houses and browses on vendors. When I get a browse, it usually jumps up 4-500.

Maby you just need goods worth buying. If people like your goods they will visit. I noticed that most people do not know how to look up vendors on planetary maps.
Unfortunately there is no way of knowing if that planetary map vendor list is worthwhile. Half the vendors there are empty or sell bazaar quality items.
There needs to be a way to check the vendor items before you make the 20 minute trip to their shop.
